Scenario works on my home PC, but missing database IDs on school PC (both 1.08 Beta)

Post by hanzawa1991 »

Hi everyone,

I created a custom scenario in Command: Modern Operations at home. It runs perfectly fine on my home PC, but when I try to run it on my school PC, I get a series of “Database ID missing” errors.

Both machines are running CMO 1.08 Beta, and the scenario does not contain any custom models or weapons — everything is from the default database.

Here’s an excerpt from the error log:

Aircraft with DatabaseID 7189 is missing from the database and has not been loaded.
Aircraft with DatabaseID 7135 is missing from the database and has not been loaded.
The following aircraft: [TETO#1] failed to shallow-rebuild...
Ship with Database ID 4922 is missing from the database and has not been loaded.
Facility with Database ID 4387 is missing from the database and has not been loaded.
Ship with Database ID 4725 is missing from the database and has not been loaded.
...

It also says that affected units get “deep-rebuilt” in pristine DB condition, losing any customizations I made (weapon loadouts, damaged components, etc.).

What I’ve confirmed so far:
- Both home and school PCs are running 1.08 Beta.
- Scenario file is identical (copied via USB).
- No custom .lua or modded assets involved.
- All units were selected from the in-game database.

Questions:
1. Why would the same CMO version (1.08 Beta) still produce “DB ID missing” errors between two PCs?
2. Does the Beta branch include different database versions even under the same game version number?
3. What’s the correct way to ensure scenarios will run the same across different PCs? Should I embed the DB when saving the scenario?

Any advice is appreciated. If needed, I can list all the missing DB IDs (7189, 7135, 4922, 4387, 4725, etc.) so we can pinpoint which DB version they belong to.

Thanks!

both 499

After double-checking, I found the core of the issue: the versions were not identical.
Home PC (Creation):v1.08 (Public Release) Build 1676
School PC (Loading):v1.08 beta Build 1638

Is DB499 in the database folder on both PCs? Nothing we did would affect the DB version, especially one that old, but maybe it accidentally or purposely got dragged and dropped into another folder?

2. No, once a DB version gets released publicly we create a new version, i.e. DB499 -> DB500 or we would add an "a" after the DB version if it was something that needed an immediate fix.

3. Nothing special, make sure the DB is on both PCs. You can't embed a DB into the scenario. The DB must exist within the DB folder.

Sounds like you're doing a scenario rebuild of some sort, in which case, yeah it's entirely possible a unit could be missing. We try not to delete units now, we move things to the "junkyard", but this wasn't always the case. If you're doing a scenario rebuild it's going from 499 to whatever latest DB version is in your DB folder. Entirely possible units are missing from the newer DB. Why would you build a scenario on a DB that's 2-3 years old at this point? While not ancient it definitely isn't recent.

Can you share the scenario? Just upload it as a zip file here to the forum since the forum software doesn't support .scen files.
