1/144th Scale Miniatures

When I was a teenager, I had problems with 1/35 scale models painting and glueing. It was even more difficult to me with 1/72 scale models, lol. How on earth do you paint the black tracks on such small models?

You do it when it is full size and then you use your shrink gun on it.

I'm wearing my reading glasses and work with a magnification lamp.
Otherwise I would hardly see if I'm painting a triplane or a tank.

My package from Butler's Printed Models arrived today. Below is a pic comparing the 6 Butler models to one of the Bradleys' I got from AGSDGAWD. The Bradley seems to be just a shade larger in scale than the Butler's models, either that or Bradleys are a little larger than Panzer IVs IRL (especially in width).

Also, the Bradleys have a lot more fine detail on them. However, the BPM vehicles are definitely nice as well.

In side by side comparison, the more detailed print of the AGSDGAWD model is noticeable.
Actually, the Bradley is wider and taller (and heavier) than the Panzer IV.

Does the Bradley appear to be on the same scale to you as the BPM vehicles? I've never seen any of the vehicles up close IRL, to compare modern armor to WW2; however, all the WW2 German vehicles I got from BPM seem to be dwarfed by the Bradleys. For whatever reason, I imagined the Sdkfz 251 halftrack wouldn't be so small compared to one. It almost looks like a staff car compared to the Bradley. It seems awfully small. But maybe that's just my ignorance coming through.

Well, the Bradley (L x W x H 6,55 m x 3,28 m x 3,38) is bigger than the 251 (5,8 m x 2,1 m x 1,75 m).
Is the size ratio between the two models realistic? I don't know.

To be sure, take a sliding gauge, measure the models, multiply the measured values by 144 and compare the results with the original dimensions.

I'm thinking, at this small a scale and with some investment over time in money, I could create a 1:1 ratio battalion or regiment consisting of every single asset the unit had (at least on paper) in real life, both in manpower and vehicles. Maybe I could do an independent German Panzer Brigade or something. Paint up the models and lay them out on a large tray or board. It would be kind of a cool idea, I think. Something neat to look at. Maybe I could take it to miniature wargaming shows and show it off to people who are interested in such things.
