Default Setting Fails

Post by Omnius »

The worst default setting fail is the fact that we can't permanently change the default settings and have them stay changed once we leave the game. After that the lame default settings come back.

The fleet sort by lowest strength is really poorly thought out and rather useless. Fleet sort by name is the most logical and useful sort filter and it's at the bottom of the list which shows how poorly this sort was thought out. I sometimes use the sort by lowest strength filter to add a ship to fleets but not often.

For ship designs sorting by name isn't useful the way sorting by Role is. Sorting by role puts all ships of that role together whereas by name separates them. There are multiple cases of the same name being used for different warships of different classes and sorting by name makes it tougher to figure out which is which.

When adding ships to a fleet we get a popup menu that sorts by when a fleet was created instead of by name which would be far more useful. I name my fleets after the colony they're based at so adding ships to fleets now that I have over 40 becomes tedious and a waste of time. A pity the devs didn't think beyond just making it easy to add to the last fleet created. Sad the devs couldn't bother to make this sort filter changeable so we could change the way it sorts, like by name.

So many sort filters yet so many fail to give us the most useful by default. If only the devs would make this game more player friendly for us manual control players. Making it so when we change sort filters to our preference and have that choice remain even after we leave the game and come back would really be a nice manual control player friendly fix but I doubt we'll see that kind of useful fix as this game just isn't made friendly for us manual control players.
