Help me make sense of sea movment/combat...

Post by Perkalov »

Moving my fleet from Kiel trough North Sea.
In North Sea CW got a fleet that fails to find me so I move on to Bay of Biscay
There I stop, planing to attack whats in that sea zone.

However... I can only chose Sea Section 0

My slowest boat is Emden 5/3.
By my memory, I should be able to go up in Sea Section 2?

I assume the computer takes me via Faeroes Gap (didn't remember until now that Dover/Calais likely is closed as long as Allies holds both?).

Anyway, why don't I get the option to climb up a few Sea Sections?

Second question:
After Combat, I have one ship aborted (Scharnhorst) during combat (and one damaged) the rest is aborted by choice.

When trying to abort Scharnhoarst back to Kiel I get an circle with an X over it.
the msg is... Insuffient MPs or the unit(s) must move trough at least 1 enemy occupied sea area before movin to this hex.

Clearly I got range (nope, my harbours aint frozen :p ) but I can't move into North Sea to let CW try to intercept me (after which I should be able to move into Kiel?)ö.

Check your active options (CTRL-O) to see if you have "in the Presence of the Enemy" turned on. If so, it costs an extra movement point (not range though) to move into each sea zone occupied solely by enemy surface or naval air forces. This movement penalty does not apply to aborting units or those returning to base.

You cannot move surface fleets directly from the North Sea to the Bay of Biscay (i.e.via the English Channel). The game would have routed you north around the UK even if you clicked on the Bay of Biscay after the missed interception.

For the abort move, you must click each sea area you want to move through. If that doesn't work, try a CTRL-left-click. You might have to do that to tell the program you DO want to move into or abort through a sea zone occupied by enemy units.

Reply with more detail if this does not seem to fit with what happened. Also there should be an auto-saved game from the beginning of the naval search and combat phase that you could zip and attach to your post.

Aight, that explains the inabillity for my navy to get up in Sea Section.
Both the optional rule in combo with the straight between Dover and Calais being closed.

The other problem didn't occure when we replayed the turn, so I couldn't try CTRL-left-click.
All I can say is that I couldn't move to an other sea zone and I couldn't enter a single harbour in the sea-zone (have yet to reach the French ones).

Ty for help.
