Question about order of doctrines

Post by Knightpawn »

If a unit has doctrine A value set to x and I assign it in a mission where Doctrine A value is y, will mission value prevail or do I have to align the two? If the answer is "no", I assume that once unassigned the until will return to its setting before assignment into a mission, correct?

To conclude presidentially: Thank you for your attention to this matter

The mission doctrine will override the side doctrine. Not sure about unit doctrine, in my experience it can be finicky and sometimes I have to unassign a unit if I want to manually control it on a different setting from the mission it was originally on.

Knightpawn,

The way that I understand it, in theory, the Side Doctrine is the main governing body. The Mission Doctrine will overrule the Side Doctrine, if it differs. And, the Unit Doctrine is will overrule the Side Doctrine and the Mission Doctrine. That would mean that the Unit Doctrine TRUMPS all of them. (You like what I did there?) <lol>

That said, I have seen it NOT WORK as expected on many occasions, if the Mission or Unit Doctrine aren't in agreement with the Side Doctrine.

Just want to highlight the importance of these buttons...

I use them all the time to make sure I have not misaligned ROE hierarchy. That is the school of hard knocks. Its something I check before I start any scenario.

I hope it really work this way, as this is how I would expect it to be :-)
