Mines using editor
How to you place mines in ports with the editor?
Re: Mines using editor
1. Get the device number of the mine you want to have in the Devices tab.
2. Go to the Locations tab and find the base you want the mines to be at.
3. In an unused Weapons slot, put in the mine device number and then the number of mines you want to be there. E.G. the Mk 6 mine is device number 123. When you type that number into the box next to the weapon slot the description Mk 6 Mine comes up. Then go one box over and type in 200 or whatever.

You put your question in twice and I answered it in the first one. Sometimes when the board is slow to show your original post you end up repeating it. When that happens, go to the duplicate one, click "Edit" and remove the text and type "Deleted - duplicate post" so people will not waste time on it.

I see no such X on my posts GP - even when I go into Edit mode on my own post. Is there a setting you need for this? Or maybe it only happens if no one else has seen the post yet?btd64 wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 9:34 am Or you can just go to the X in the upper right corner of your post and delete it....GP

But not visible when your post has been posted for a while.
Basically, if you know, you made a duplicate post that will show up In the beginning....GP

Re: Mines using editor
Thanks for your reply but that doesn't work. I had already tried that. And I tried it again after your message with different variations. And if you look at the first turn of the game, after the Dec start before any play, you can find ports that already have mines and then go back to the editor and see there are no mines listed in the weapons boxes of those port locations. There must be another wayBBfanboy wrote: Fri Sep 05, 2025 6:13 am 1. Get the device number of the mine you want to have in the Devices tab.

Re: Mines using editor
I am surprised that the database would let me add that device number in a base weapons slot if it does not show up in the base profile when the game starts. It sounds like the start is hardwired to randomly or per a table add mines to bases (some specified and perhaps some random too). If it's a hardwired feature there's no changing it.
You could probably increase (in the devices tab) the number of mines produced per month and just lay them as fast as you can after game start.

Re: Mines using editor
I've tried to add mines like that and it did not work. I've also tried loading ships with supply so they start loaded and other stuff that you can do in game without success.
I do not know how it is done officially but I'm convinced the editor is incapable of doing everything you need for scenario design?
I'll stand corrected here.

Re: Mines using editor
You cannot add mines in the editor by adding mines in the weapons boxes. That is clear and there are no mines listed in any weapons boxes in any of the scenarios I have looked at. If someone disagrees please tell me how it works then. That would be greatChris21wen wrote: Mon Sep 08, 2025 6:25 am I've tried to add mines like that and it did not work. Re: Mines using editor
Maybe you should be asking questions about using the editor in the Scenario Design and Modding section after you have looked over the headings of other threads to see if there could be help there.

Re: Mines using editor
I thought the system automatically assigns mines at the start based on the size of the ports.

Re: Mines using editor
I found the answer from 2021:
By LargeSlowTarget: It's nowhere in the editor, you cannot mod the number and location of mines already placed at scenario start - it is hardcoded.

Skyros provided the link above to JWE's post in 2010 stating that mines are hard coded as well ....

Re: Mines using editor
Another way, which I have done, is simply increase the pool and then use your CM's to lay them where you want them. Sure, takes a few days maybe weeks to get them all in place, but generally not an issue in the game (other than remembering to move them).
