Make Georgia Howl

Post by falco148 »

Was playing this scenario recently against an MP opponent when it abruptly ended about two-thirds of the way through, giving my opponent a decisive win. I hadn't yet captured any of the 4 victory objectives but I was very close on 3 of them and I'm sure I could have captured the other one within the time frame given. The Union forces (my side) were at about 26% morale and the Rebs were about 28% from memory. Was just wondering if this has happened to anybody else playing this scenario or if it's some sort of bug? I was also wondering if it's got anything to do with disabling the DE1007 Decision Event file script in the advanced script options? Maybe disabling this script lets the scenario run out the full number of turns?

By default (assuming no scripts have been turned off), the 1864 campaign will end on November 8, 1864.
If DE 1007 is disabled, then the game will end on the usual date of December 30, 1865.

I've checked the victory scripts again, and everything looks correct there. Is it possible that you didn't actually disable DE 1007 and merely thought you did? If your game ended on 1864/11/08 (or the next turn date after that), this seems the most likely explanation - if you open up the save and check the scripts in that, and DE 1007 is not listed in the decisions page, then that will confirm it.

Ok that's what I thought. No, I didn't disable the DE1007 before my MP game. I couldn't see how it was supposed to be done. I could do it when playing against AI but not MP for some reason.

Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean 'open up the save'? You mean the ACW game files on the hard drive?

I don't think it is possible to disable events in online MP games (it can be done for hotseat ones). The extended version of 1864 isn't balanced for MP play and so isn't really intended to be played that way.

'Opening up the save' is just loading the save file in the game as you normally would.
