WITP AE mods

Post by De Savage »

It's been a long time since I played WITP... After buying HOI IV I was so frustrated to play more realistic WW2 game so I started WITP. And again I was hooked. Still the best WW2 game I have. :)

I have seen beautiful maps in screenshots. I dont know what mods there are. Can you recommend map mods and other cool mods, scenarios for WITP AE?

Thanks!

Which one is it? I see a "DarlonBabes v. C, but it does seem to be a variant of the original...

De Savage, if you want data overload, you can try the RHS mod. As for maps, if you want the MOST BEAUTIFUL MAP EVER, ask Chemkid for his Topo 2 map with labels. It is like being magically moved to the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden.

I would still like to find the right combination of MODS that would bring WITP AE into the 2020s terms of look and feel. I still don't understand why this game hasn't had a facelift. Its a WONDERFUL game that is considered to be one of the best.

If anyone has thoughts about optimal mods I'd welcome them as the game does seem to run on Windows 11 with tweaks... just looks so wildly outta date when its vanilla.

To be honest with you, I prefer that the game works rather than having something that looks good but doesn't work.

I completely agree with you. Game stability is key and you firstly have to ensure a game built for Windows 7 will even run on a Windows 10 or 11 rig. (it can but is tricky as you know)

I just can't help but wish for a clean refreshed version of this gem. I used to complain about the PBEM aspect of it, but honestly? Years later I can see the value. Time will tell I guess. Strategic Command (the series) isn't bad, but its several levels of detail above WITP. This one just stands in a class of its own.
