Amphib invasion unload rate

Post by konstpan »

I’m trying to understand the actual unloading rate during amphibious invasions.

According to the manual, merchant ships (xAP/xAK) in Amphib TFs should unload 250 points per turn (or about 500 per day if “per turn” means per phase).

In my current game, though, I’m well beyond the initial Japanese bonus period and conducting an amphibious assault on an Allied port hex, yet I’m seeing over 1,000 unloading points per day per xAK — roughly double what I’d expect.

Does anyone know of any other modifiers that can increase amphibious unloading speed beyond what the manual describes?

Read this:

Also the Japanese bonus seems to last until May 1, 1942 as per Discord tests.

The latest manual describes the Special Japanese Early War Amphibious Bonus (SJEWAP?) as being 1200 for all AP/AK and xAP/xAK types. I wouldn't be surprised if the Japanese AI gets a little boost on top of that.

Thanks for the replies, everyone!

Just to clarify the specific situation I’m referring to:
  • It’s July 1943, so the Japanese early-war bonus should no longer be in effect.
  • The TF is conducting a beach invasion (not docked) in a port hex, so it’s an amphibious assault, not a normal port unload.
  • All ships involved are xAKs, no APs or specialized amphib ships mixed in.

Do you have an empty LSD in the TF?

3) Other ships in the TF. Ships that have built-in landing craft (like AP/AK, APA/LSD/AKA) or that are beaching types (LST, LCI, etc.) will provide assistance to unload other ships in the same TF after they have completely finished their own unloading. So, if you include one or more of those kind of ships in the same TF with your xAP/xAK/xAKL ships, they can often help with unloading at small ports or over the beach.

konstpan- or about 500 per day if “per turn” means per phase).
No. There are two phases per day - night and daytime.

While Japan has the unloading bonus all troops offload in one phase but supplies unload at normal rates.
After the unloading bonus expires, I think the prep level of the troops can affect offloading and landing.
