WARPLAN- Planes cannot target Ships- Why?

Been playing as germany since 1939. its mid 1941 now. still not been able to target ships the whole game with planes. Why?

Planes can attack Uk land units from france but wont attack uk ships in sea. Can someone explain why please.

i wanted to kill them off when using my main german fleet as bait. fleets had battle but my planes will not engage enemy ships.

looked in manual and it says nothing about attacking ships with planes but why give attributes for naval on planes if they cant be used?

You have to switch the plane mode to naval. If they can attack land they are on land attack mode.

If you select an air unit there are 4 possible missions on the unit card (top left corner): Fleet attack, ground attack, airfield attack and strategic bombing.

If you want to attack fleets, select the first and the available attack targets will be highlighted. (Provided weather permits, you havent attacked, etc)
