Ok maybe I said this wrong, I am looking to move all support units up to the highest HQ's then disperse them out without them moving around on there own?. do i start by locking them or making the highest HQ a 9 on support level and the rest a 1???. once done how many turns does it take to complete???

Never used the automation myself (so someone correct if wrong).

I think you need to put the Co/Ar/AG HQs to "0", then all non-construction SUs should be sent up to High Command (no idea how quick, maybe 1-3 turns).
Then, if you want full control, you LÖCK the HQs and assign the SUs you want on/at/in/under them.

...I'd rather suggest Locking all, turning on some ww2 marching music and click it through yourself.

In WITW/WITE-2:

(0) Set SUs onlocked in game options.

(1) Zap all SLEV to 0 for all ground HQs.

(2) Find any CUs that have attached HQs and release them; as they will not move automatically.

(4) Go one turn. You should find all SUs at the highest national command level; they will just jump countries. (except engineers as they are special) You may want in previous turn just relocate combat engineers (guys blow s--t up to senior HQ) You should find everyone pooled at the top.

(5) You now have two options. You can set SLEV for particular HQs and the will get pushed down. Do NOT set less than 1 or they cannot move down. Your other option is to go to the commands you want and manually cherry pick from high command. After finishing, then lock that command so that they cannot leave.

Some stuff to remember:

SUs come and go as reinforcements. So, once you start down the manual route you are in for a lot of micro.

SUs assigned to CUs never detach, but for you doing it. SUs are best left at first level HQ for maximum automation. Arty will engage with in 2 hexes. Don't move them to CUs.

Once SUs are pooled at the top level they will stay there unless you open space for them to migrate down.

The trick of assign rail SUs to control location only works in WITE-2. If you do this in WITW, you will cripple rail repair.

Have fun!
