Stavelot Crossroad is a real challenge (small scenario)

Post by GiveWarAchance »

Hello I played Stavelot Crossroad three times as Germany and lost all 3 times. I need 80 points for a minor victory but got 78 points in my last try. I think I can tweak my strategy slightly to squeeze into one more town but it will very hard and depend on a mad rush. The American counterattack is overwhelming when it arrives and my units are low on combat effectiveness from moving and fighting by the time the massed US forces arrive. I used all the PP points to buy cards especially supply, fuel and replacements and the cheapest units I can afford. Still not enough. I was lucky the scenario ended when it did because I think the US would steamroll over my exhausted units.

How are all y'all doing with this scenario?

I've managed to got a minor victory with 92 points (I lost 10 points just because I forgot to hold a single town, damn). Anyway, I think its a combination of reckless and lucky. I push forward towards East to capture a town that has 20 pts using all of my best tanks including king tigers and panthers, and also I create a diversion attack at South position using some of my KGs, by that the AI thought that I launch a big assault and start to stretched out their defenses. Well tbh, approaching final turn the AI starts to push with numerical advantage but it's too late since I hold the towns + Stavelot itself. I consider myself lucky because towards the final turn, mostly it's foggy so their attacks kinda abrupted.
