Help Please. WITP doesn't run on Windows 11

Post by Dereck »

My system drive crashed and the person put on Windows 11 instead of the Windows 10 I had.

I cannot get WITP:AE to run now. All I get is "Fatal Error 200"

What do I need to do?

You should ask that sort of question in the Tech Forum.

Reinstall the game to get registry set.

Fatal Error 200 with WitP-AE is registry failure. You can copy SAVE directory to somewhere and copy it back after reinstallation as precaution (reinstall should not delete SAVE folder anyway, but just in case).

(It'd be possible to fix 200 error with registry editing, but I'd not recommend doing that unless really knowing what you are doing.)

I just renamed the old WITP directory and reinstalled and patched and then copied over my scenario files and save files. I seem to have it running but am now having problems with getting Tracker working. When the tech person replaced the system drive somehow my drive letters were changed and Tracker is looking for itself on the old drive and I can't see anywhere to change where it's looking. I'm thinking I'm going to have to reinstall tracker but then if I remember there's a file I have to edit(?) to get it to properly work also?

By the way, I was an Oracle programmer/DBA for 35 years so I know just enough to be really dangerous (to myself) but I'm smart enough to know that and I left the registry alone.

There is a separate area for Tracker issues. I suggest looking there.
