Supply problem with Dutch ports

Post by Garush »

Hi everyone.

Something strange happened to me in my latest game of Warplan. I'm playing the Allies, and things are going well since, at the end of 1943, the Italians surrendered, my troops landed in the south of France, and the Netherlands and Belgium were liberated.

It's on this last front that I'm having a problem. While everything went well initially, with supplies being provided by the immense and excellent Belgian and Dutch ports, for the past three turns I've had units in "Basic Supply" for no apparent reason.

I think this started when the troops who landed in Provence completed their duties alongside those who landed in the Netherlands. The railway line connecting these two zones hasn't yet been liberated or repaired because the Germans are still holding Paris (for a short time).

Returning to these "Basic Supply" items, I noticed that only Amsterdam seems to be providing supplies, with a score of 0/180. Rotterdam and Antwerp are classified as "Main Supply" but no longer seem to be providing supplies.

This is still annoying because even though it's winter, my units at the front aren't recovering and will have difficulty launching an offensive in Germany in the summer of 1944.

Am I imagining things, or have I missed something?

#1 off you have only a few ports. Looks like you didn't take Western France. You need those ports to supply all your units.
#2 you have a bunch of broken rail that is preventing Italian ports from supplying North.

Take the Western ports. You have few port capacity to supply all those units.

Unlike other games where you can supply the entire US army with 1 port WarPlan tries to use more realistic logistics mechanisms.

It is an odd situation because there are a few countries liberated, yet there is no adequate supply. Maybe the actually captured production centers could count towards supply - it is produced and used locally. Also it was suggested elsewhere to distribute supplies evenly, so that all units gain some efficiency back.

I wonder whether setting priorities with units (either "green plus" or setting "not to upgrade") influence units getting supply?

This is purely a matter of he didn't take enough ports. He needs to take the rest of France.
