I'll bite on your suspicious demographics survey..

I had just started high school when Matrix released SP:WaW.

Now I fear I'll die of old age before Steel Tigers or any new iteration of SP from Matrix or Slitherine happens.

I'm 64 and started with Avalon Hill's Arab-Israeli Wars back in 1979. Bought from a game shop on Forrest Road in Edinburgh in my first year at university. Studies may have suffered.

62, can remember riding the bus past the Avalon Hill store on Charles Street in Baltimore on the way to school in the 70's. I'd always make sure I had a seat on the right side of the bus so I could get a look at and in through the window..... Good times.

Started out playing MB games like Risk. Moved up to Tactics II and Midway. Then, on the Squad Leader. In early 2000's stumbled onto War in the Pacific and Crown of Glory. What day is this? I'm still trying to take back the Philippines from Japan in the Dec. 8th scenario.

Started in 1965 at age 7 with Tactics II (thanks to uncle and father). Makes me 67.

I remember watching my older brother playing Panzerblitz in 1970 when I was 9. I unknowingly recognized that what he was doing would be a future source of dopamine for me. I was playing Gettysburg and Midway by age 11 and had an S&T subscription soon after. Bro went on to work for AH and now is part owner of GMT.

Avalon>age. it seems more common definition .Definition of wargaming technical side or political side. As there were less modders at that time I guess. But both are correct about design and gameplay at their time what they believe.

I’m 29, but don’t tend to frequent the forums much.

Im also a lady (shock horror I know!) I’m very very used to being one of the only women and one of the only people under 50 when it comes to lots of wargaming things lol.

Got into wargaming largely out of a life long interest in history, and through things like Warhammer fantasy battles and 40k. I think those are more common gateways for women. Though nowadays, maybe not here, but you do see a lot more women at Table top events.

Damn you're all are either older than me, or waaay older than me. I started my first wargaming experience in 2023, I was 21 years old, first game is CMO (Command Modern Operation) which I think it's a descendant of the old Harpoon game iirc. Then I started to pick up hex based wargame a year later, SC WW1 (the new version not the classic) both games are blast and now I have Warplan Pacific and DC Ardennes. Planning to buy CS Vietnam but I still wait for the huge discount lol. Anyway, good to see you all.

Turned seventy last September. First wargame was Avalon Hill's 1914 bought in 1968 followed a couple of months later by Jutland. Still have both games but haven't been able to play for ages. First computer wargame was Computer Harpoon in 1988 or 89 for a then state of the art Commodore 128.

69 and it's not nearly as fun as I thought it would be! Started wargaming when my older brother bought AH's Blitzkreig when I was 10. He needed an opponent so I learned to play. Got an Atari 800 in 1983 and have been playing computer wargames ever since.

Looking around for Nursing Home(s), ideas?
Are they like college fraternities, with Rush Week, Pledge pin, Hell Week, Active Pin?
I did the Animal House thing, nothing I'm proud of, but at age 19, so be it (repented).
Need Nursing Home with bi-weekly Dungeon's & Dragons game play. (I cannot DM, player only).
Daily Advanced Squad Leader a must. My buddy and I going request same wing.
Need back-up opponents. Prefer pre-1943 scenarios.
Super German Tanks & Yanks infantry, my least fav.

White Plume Mountain, had a really cool Druid character, missed his saving throw, dead.
