John 3rd wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 5:29 pm With the southward thrust through Noumea--more or less--accomplished, I think Japan will try to grab the three islands that recon can be flown from: Norfolk, the one to the west nearer Aussieland, and the one to the SE. If I can grab those, then Japan should be able to launch raiders into the deep south Pacific without being seen...this could be very enjoyable...

Take them and then place a CD unit and Base Force on each and extend recon all the way to near the edge of the map.
Good idea. Keep a reaction force nearby as these will definitely be targeted early. You'll want to reinforce/re-take them ASAP.

(guessing that you mean Lord Howe Island and Raoul Island in addition to Norfolk Island?)

Yes. I knew Lord Howe but couldn't for the life of me remember Raoul! Thanks.

Had to do a modification to the Scenario. With all this time on my hands I have been plinking around throughout the Mod looking for good and bad things.

One thing that I figured out is that the expansion of Japanese shipyards PRIOR to war start coupled to this being a CV Mod has led to a plethora of Japanese build points. I have been able to accelerate ALL the Japanese 8 late-war CVs without straining things whatsoever in 1942. Add to that I have Junyo and Hiyo accelerated and one can see an issue that will become rapidly apparent.

This Mod focuses on the CVs and then CAs and CL/CLAA. The Japanese build two B-65 in Circle Four so they are completed by war's start. It is nice to have a pair of modern BC to escort the Kido Butai but it should not be this EASY to build everything! With this in mind, I have now added a second pair of B-65 that are operational in mid-to-late 1943. Each of these ships require 130 build points. They are good and capable escort ships...so...their addition should make things a bit more dicey for the Japanese buildout.

Lord Howe Island - I would open game as Allies to double check what command it belongs to. It is below Brisbane so unsure if it would trigger Aussie emergency reinforcements. It is relatively close to the mainland, sir.

Shouldn't trigger anything---RIGHT? Think that is only applicable to the mainland.

Just check the country code, no need to open the games as the Allies. ;)

John;

In my Scen 1, Norfolk and Lord Howe are 32, Raoul is 34. Brisbane is 30.

Did you change those in your mod?

It is not the command but rather the country code. An invasion of Tasmania does activate the emergency reinforcements.

I just went through to the RULEBOOK and it only mentions southern Australia. Lord Howe SHOULD be OK.

Exactly, it's not the Base HQ, but the country code (hotkey=4) which determines the trigger. Since the county codes are different, they should NOT trigger the reinforcements ...

Pretty sure that I've taken those in the past and did not trigger anything.

Do you have the list of Hot Keys? I would love to print one off. Still miss them and/or screw them up occasionally.
