new EXECUTE button

Post by Knightpawn »

Can someone please explain the practical utility of the new EXECUTE button? I dont seem to get it, considering that, as before, the weapons fire (or are ready to) anyway once I close the Manual Engage Target window. What am I missing?

I think the new Execute button is meant to fire any salvos you’ve left “pending”, for example when targets are out of range or when you want to coordinate multiple shots at the same time. If you use the classic method (assign a weapon and close the window), the shot fires immediately just like before, so the button doesn’t add anything. I tested it this afternoon with weapons already in range (green) and Execute didn’t do anything, so I assume it only works when the salvo is actually pending. I need to run more tests to be sure.

The only difference in the way the manual alloc window works is if you have the window open while the sim is running.

If the sim is running, the salvos won't start firing until you either click Execute OR close the window. If you want to cancel what you've done, you need to select the pending salvos and cancel them.

If you allocate salvos while the sim is paused and then close the window it should behave exactly the same way it did before.
