Turns per Day (1) and Combat

Post by StuccoFresco »

Do casualty rates change when the "turns per day" variable changes? If for example I set up a 1 turn per day in a scenario, will combats cause more losses for each side? There's maybe an Intensity multiplier? I can't see how to change basic Intensity in the editor.

Furthermore, what happens to Night Turns if I set the turns per day at 1, 2 or 3 per day?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

No, they don't change, the CRT is the same regardless of the turns per day.

However, the CRT and the battle intensity values can all be modified.

There are data files where the game is installed
(e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Stalingrad\data)
See the README in there for more info.

By the by, changings those files will NOT affect existing scenarios, only scenarios that you edit!

If you have turns per day at 1 then you'll have no night turns, only day ones.
Otherwise you get 1 night turn regardless of tunrs per day.

Cheers,
Brian

The manual says intensity will affect all scenarios, except the ongoing ones. Makes sense that since the game has only one file, it will load the modified one every time I start a new scenario, so I can't make different Intensity levels for some scenarios: I have to set it for the entire game.

However, if I put the relevant files and path, I should be able to make a mod with the modified Intensity table, which at that point would be active only if I launch the mod, is this correct?

When you edit a scenario in the editor, it loads the data files into the scenario.
So then if you change the files, they won't affect existing scenarios. They'll only be loaded into the scenario if you edit it.

Otherwise, you could cheat and change the CRT file to your advantage when playing a PBEM game.

So you can, for example, have different intensity levels for different scenarios.

Ah that's practical.

To make the changes standard for all (non ongoing) scenarios, I just have to edit the main file in /data, but I can have different tables for newly edited scenarios. Good, very flexible.
