[RESOLVED][B1774] Freeze when trying to start or edit a scenario

Post by Mgellis »

I'm having the freeze issue some people reported with Build 1774. I load the game and when I try to start or edit a scenario, it freezes and the only thing I can do is use the task manager to kill the process. I've tried it about a dozen times. No joy. I'm not sure if there is something special about my machine or the way I installed the files (I just copied them over to the Command directories, as instructed). Sorry I can't provide more information.

Fortunately, I've been able to roll back to Build 1674 (version 1.08). That seems pretty stable.

Did this issue appear immediately once you applied B1774, or after a while ?

If you have the game installed in a "Program files" folder, it is explained in this thread.

If you do not know how to do it, just upload a copy of the file Command.ini.

It started right away.

I tried adding a C:/Temp directory and changing the ini file, but it still didn't work. However, the symptoms changed. Now the game will partly load a file and then stall. Also, I can cancel the load and try another file, but it stalls out again. I did get an error message one time and took a screenshot.

Also, when I tried to exit Command, the launcher remained active until I used the task manager to kill the process.

I'm attaching screenshots and a zip of my current Command.ini file.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this.

The error in the first screenshot happens if you have renamed Command.exe

To run the current beta it has to be named Command.exe.

The rest are:

Command 1774.exe

Command 1728.exe.

Etc.

Command.exe has not been renamed.

The error message only showed up two times. The other times, the game simply stalls out when I try to load a file.

I did add the C:/Temp directory and it is showing a folder called EBWebView.

Does the Command.ini file tell you anything? Maybe the issue is there?

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

For the current beta I use that name.

The rest are:

Command 1774.exe

Command 1728.exe.

Etc.

So, you overwrote the old command.exe?

You only have one executable?

In that case you are missing a dll.

It was included in B1706, just extract the dll in CMO folder.

That seems to fix the problem. I'll let you know if I need more help.
