I responded earlier in mode depth - but I'm curious about this particular piece...

What government & race were you playing?

Maybe shadow republic?
they get the droid foundry for free, but not the troop recruitment center.

it's a tricky balance - but maybe turn down your advisors so they suggest but DON'T do?

AI don't actually use the same code paths as automation (from what I've heard), and I assume most games you're giving them an economic boost anyway?

I could give shadow republic the troop center instead, as the automation is less likely to suggest building the droid foundry, but it's way more in character to have the droid foundry, and a fun unique for that govt.

Human, Republic. I'm not certain what building I built, only that I foolishly authorized it before the starport. Raising the funds again was quite a setback.

Now that I know it can happen, I would just refuse to build it. Usually I trust the advisor to make me build the appropriate things, but in that case I should not have. First time I was playing that mod...

I don't. I'm not that confident in my management skills to play with an handicap, yet. I did play several DW2 games, but I struggle to get beyond the midgame as one of the other empires ends up too far ahead. I like larger galaxy, that may be why.

Quick question on weapon balance... I was wondering why Large weapons seem to be just straight up better in all respects than medium and small weapons?
They have generally just straight up better range and better raw damage inflicted per shot. This makes them more accurate and do more damage than smaller weapons with no disadvantages as they cost the same and weigh the same in relation to their size versus smaller weapon?

In many respect some smaller weapons are completely worthless again capital ships and stations due to very high reactive ratings versus damage output which further makes the large weapon way more powerful.

This seem to overtly hurt hulls with no or little large weapon slots and make these hulls more or less useless in comparison.

Normally large weapons would have much lower DPS than smaller weapons for this reason. This would give distinct differences and uses for the two types. I would suggest most large weapons simply have much lower fire rate to compensate for this, sat a 30% less total DPS would make these weapons more equal in different ways.

Or is there something I'm missing?
