Spotting Units

Post by MauriceB »

Is there a reason I'm not seeing any enemy Unit spotted events (like Detect, Classify, Identify) in any logs? I see a lot of messages about spotting artillery landing on me. Of all the messages I want to see, this is the most important as units can disappear from the map as fast as they popped up. It would be nice to have a history of those spotting events.

That's a design choice: If we were to generate all these messages, they would completely swamp the radio net (unrealistic) and the radio log (granted, we have added message filtering to the radio log). We do create a few messages for flavor, and initial contact, but not all.

The Staff Intelligence form, Enemy SITREP tab, provides you with an overview of the actual and recently lost spottings any time you pause the game, and any time you are able to issue orders. It shows recently lost contacts on the map, and in table.

For every single unit, its UnitDashboard will list the 'Active Contacts' in the Staff tab.

I had to laugh out loud (sorry!) at "completely swamp the radio net". I'm looking at you, Mr. "arrival" message

Excellent info, thanks. I never thought to look at the Enemy SITREP tab during gameplay. I guess I assumed it was static preliminary info and did not realize it was dynamic.

@MauriceB, you can also filter and color-code those log messages and drop the arrivals or any other message you don't need/want. Click on the yellow triangle in a log window to open the filter menus.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

Yes, one of the first things i did. It does reset to All Tags when i start another scenario but a quick couple clicks to set Custom on again.
