Question about strikes

Post by welk »

I have a curious pb with strikes for some units : I used tanks to create medium and heavy cavalry.
I set the number of strikes for this cavalry to 1

But in game, these cavalry units have always 6 strikes
It's the only case, I have not this problem with other units : strike limitations are effectives

It seems that the program does not accept my strike limitation fir these cavalry : I choiced 1 but it plays with 6 strike for these cavalry.

What may be the reason ? (these units have no any experience, and their research improvment is 0 for all kind of improvments)

And whats means the [6] ? (see please attached image)

They are receiving 6 strikes due to research. We know this because of how it is displaying: 1 [6] where 1 is the base value, and the figure in brackets is the increased value.

My guess is that you will need to change Armoured Warfare research (or whatever you have named it to) so that it doesn't provide more strikes with each research level.

It is an automatic upgrade category, which means that its research is applied without requiring the unit to manually upgrade.

Ok, thanks a lot :P : problem is now solved, I unactived these automatic upgrades (level=0) for the both sides.

This problem gave me an idea to simulate flank or rear attack with a different I planed, for human/human battles :
1/ All units have 2 or 3 strikes
2/ They may only use the first strike in attack
3/ Except if they do a flank or rear attack : in this case, they may use 2 or 3 strikes
(the programm display the number of used strike in units windows information : very nice !)

What is a flank attack : when a unit attack a ennemy unit that is already adjacent to 2 friendly units (friendly with attacking unit)

What is a rear attack : same, but it need 3 friendly units already adjacent to the attacked unit

Orientation is not taken in mind

By this way, we can modelize flank and rear attacks

I made lot of test and all battle are very equilibrated, AI does play with some vicious subtility, it's very funny (AI begin slowy the battles, but after some turns, it display his "planing)".
WW2 is interessant, but this way of battles to play SC3 offers enormous possibilities (at first, I do tests with generic battles, but I will later try to build large battles like "Alexander battles", etc)
