WP FSCC Arty planning issues

Post by Kekkanek »

There seems to be an issue with On Call artillery for Warsaw Pact in polish scenarios ("Schlacht bei Diemelstadt" and "Alamo at Soest"). I have left both artillery types on "on call" and with FSCC control enabled, yet they have provided no fire on targets spotted within their range for up to 40-60 minutes. I'm not sure if they received any FSCC targets at all. Unless I'm missing some extremely long timer placed on FSCC artillery now (my HQ units had taken negligible losses).

On that topic polish military ranks seem to be copied from Czechoslovak Army, I can make a separate thread if that's required.

Cheers and thanks for the game! It's so much fun so far

I'm not seeing the problem in the underlying data. If you do see it, or can indicate where we have it wrong, please let us know.
The game has a known issue where it always displays the 'Americanized' rank instead of the native ranks, ignoring your choice in the User Preferences. That will be fixed in the next update.

For Diemelstadt: you are fighting platoon sized West German forces who are hard to spot, deadly, and on the move. Typically, the target is gone (or the spotter taken out) before the FSCC can process the fire support request, and assign it to one of the artillery units.
Recommendation is to use your artillery for pre-planned strikes (especially your rocket launcher), manually assign barrages, and/or assign one of the batteries in direct support of a good recon unit.

Alamo at Soest is a similar story. As the Polish forces, I rarely have sight on NATO units.

With arty I might've indeed overestimated their ability to target disappearing contacts in time, I'm going to play more scenarios and give FSCC ample time.

Regarding 80s polish military ranks, I initially mistook the language for Czech, but now I'm not even sure what language that is. The correct ranks for polish army in 1980s would be:
Squad - Sierżant - sierż.
Section - Starszy Sierżant - st. sierż
Platoon - Porucznik - por.
Company/Battery - Kapitan - kpt.
Battalion - Podpułkownik - ppłk.
Regiment - Pułkownik - płk.
Brigade - Generał brygady - gen. bryg.
Division - Generał dywizji - gen. dyw.
Corps - Generał broni - gen. broni
