Gary Grigsby’s Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich - Update v1.06.92
Hello everyone,
Today we are glad to announce a new update for the game. You can download it from the 'File Downloads" section of your registered game in your My Page tab on the Matrix website or by clicking this link: HERE
v1.06.92 – October 28th, 2025
Note: version 1.06.92 will allow you to continue with any saved games you started with 1.06.66 or higher. It is recommended that you complete the reaction phase of your current game before loading it with 1.06.92.
Changes & Fixes:
• Fixed a bug that was causing unauthorized recon and intruder flights to fly an additional mission later in the day.
• Game will now exit to desktop when quitting from the game. This ensures that new games will have all the memory cleared properly.
• Fixed a bug where aircraft altitude/performance curves were not being implemented properly during fighter-fighter combat.
• Fixed a bug where the Defender Alert status delay would cycle back unnecessarily from 5 min to 15 min, or 15 min to 60 min, even if no enemy raids had launched. It will still take 45 min to get from 60 min delay to 15 min delay etc. but once you get there you stay until the next trigger to change to 5 min delay (which will take 10 minutes to achieve etc.).
• Added display of alert status and ready planes to defender groups in the airbase display.
• Added display of minutes until ready for assigned and refueling/rearming aircraft in the pilot display.
• Cleaned up some UI features for rail-flak, interception and patrol menus.
• Changed how radar stations are displayed and filtered off in the Attacker Planning Phase menu. Now radar stations won’t display if a single filter (airfield, port, or factory) is selected.
• Added some immersion messages about planes that crash from damage during flight.
• Made some adjustments to night-fighting. Interceptors may move toward a known bomber stream (more experience helps) even if their radio comms are jammed, but they still cannot be controlled by the human player while jammed. Also, increased the likelihood (slightly) of a sighting/detection turning into an attack.
• Night fighter interceptors will try to stay with their wingman throughout the mission instead of instantly breaking away to individual flights.
• Cleaned up some code to ensure the data integrity of flights that divide-off due to combat or low fuel. This was causing problems with replay, and the unintentional cancellation of raids and interceptions. Fixed some bugs and glitches that appeared after cleaning up that code.
• Fixed a bug where Defender interceptors would burn fuel during the readying process prior to takeoff. This became significant when early morning patrols with 60-minute delay times were assigned to patrol.
• Axis patrols can now fly close to ground troops without needing a friendly airbase nearby.
• Rail-Flak left on captured locations will not return to play. Groups left on captured locations will return only undamaged aircraft after 1 week plus a random number of days. This only impacts scenarios with troops.
• Ensured that detached groups are unable to fly shuttle missions. To return to their parent unit, detached units must use the “Move” command which will incur some additional delay.
• Ensured that a shuttle path is set before assigning the lead group for a mission. Setting the raid path first is good practice for any raid.
• Fixed a data error in BoB 1940 Campaign where S/L Hope Boyd had no commander

Ich spiele derzeit mit den neuesten Patch......
Ich spiele derzeit die Deutschen im BTR Szeanario.
Leider funktioniert der Alarmstatus nicht richtig.
Der Alarmstatus funktioniert manchmal, und manchmal nicht.
Wie es scheint ist immer eine ganze Luftflotte betroffen.
Wenn es funktioniert können meine Flugzeuge nach 4 Minuten starten.
Wenn es aber nicht funktioniert, können alle meiner Flugzeuge erst nach 18 Minuten starten. Auch wenn der Feind sich direkt über meinen Flughafen befindet.
Beide Zustände wechseln immer.
Bin jetzt in Runde 13
Mir kommt es vor, dass es mit jeder Runde schlimmer wird.

1943 Long Campaign - my nightfighters no longer seem to strafe Luftwaffe airfields and score ground kills. Is this change intentional in the new patch?
The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind.

It was changed a few patches ago so that only intruders with bombs will do the opportunity targeting at night. So in BTR that is just the Black Widow. In BoB that is most of the nightfighters.
The reason for taking it out is that it usually caused far more negative effects to the attacking side than the side being targeted, and low level free-for-all night ops were not that common AFAIK.

I finally got around to installing this game on my new Win 11 computer. The version from the CD is 1.00. Does this patch include all updates, or do I need to install all the previous patches first?

The 1.06.92 patch is cumulative so no need to patch up anything else first.

There definitely seems to be a problem with intercepts in this build. Whenever you hit an enemy formation and you damage some acft then the whole JG pursues the two or three damaged acft and ignores the main tgt/formation. I tested this several times in a recent combat and it is repeatable. As I indicated in the general thread on one recent raid I had several hundred axis interceptors chasing 3 damaged bombers and leaving the main formation alone. May have to go back to previous build at this stage. Many thanks.

Hmmm I haven't messed with the intercept or combat code for quite some time. I've been plying the axis a bit lately and it feels about right to me.
If you check Luftwaffe history, I believe there were many cases at this stage in the war that the German pilots were feeling overwhelmed by the Allied superiority in fighter numbers and the massive boxes of heavies. The newer pilots were not being thrown to the wolves by the veterans so much but were encouraged to chase down stragglers.
It was at this point in the war that Goering started accusing them all, including Galland, of cowardice.
If you check Luftwaffe history, I believe there were many cases at this stage in the war that the German pilots were feeling overwhelmed by the Allied superiority in fighter numbers and the massive boxes of heavies. The newer pilots were not being thrown to the wolves by the veterans so much but were encouraged to chase down stragglers.
It was at this point in the war that Goering started accusing them all, including Galland, of cowardice.

As always thanks for the reply. I note your points but having played Axis a lot I confess that I have never seen this degree of weird behaviour in interceptors. Just an hour ago I was playing and watched a full strength FW 190 JG hit a large raid that already had 3 x full ME 410 JG in contact but not yet engaged. The 190s' shot down 2 and damaged 4; in the following minute the four damaged B17G were being pursued by all the ME410s' and the FW190 JG. I'm pretty sure I haven't seen this behaviour before. I definitely didn't see this in the last version which I finished playing a few weeks ago. Anyway, again thanks for the hard work and dedication to improving the game.

I took a closer look and it does seem as bit overloaded on pursuit of stragglers. I'll see what I can do.

Aber das Problem tritt ohne speichern auf. Ohne Speichern sind es immer 18 Minuten. Mit Speichern sind es ich glaube 60 oder 63 Minuten, habe schon lange nicht mehr in der Aktionsphase gespeichert.
Das Problem mit den Abfangjägern, dass sie den Angriff abbrechen um beschädigte Flugzeuge zu verfolgen habe ich auch.
Wie es in früheren Versionen war, weiß ich leider nicht. Habe erst seit der aktuellen Version die Verteidiger Seite gespielt.
Ich habe irgendwo im Forum gelesen, dass Raids nicht gebildet werden...... Ich hatte bei BoB 1941 das gleiche Problem, dies tritt auf wenn ich 3 Spielstände speichere.
