Turn Length

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

Turn Length

Howdy! Quick question on Turn Length. Did I read correctly that turn length is 1 hour? Or how long is it?

In WITP-AE, a turn was a Day. You could speed it up to 2-day turns, but if you selected that option, you could not go back or change it. In PBEM, for a WITP-AE grand campaign, you could expect to spend 2 years actual years playing it out with the standard Day/Turn.

How will it work in WiS? Can you change the turn frequency?

For a PBEM game, playing a 3-year war 1 hour at a time is going to take awhile..........a prohibitively long time, which is why I'm asking

The default setting is one day for WIS. This can be adjusted by the player in PREFERENCES.

Can it be changed mid-game, or no? In WITP-AE it could not (as you know!)

1-day turns will work, I'm used to a long game....I just couldn't stomach 1-hour turns

WITP-AE players will have to get used the 5mi hexes, particularly for Naval Movement

It can be changed mid-game vs AI, I haven't tried to change mid-game against a human, but I doubt that can be done.

This game can zoom in and out. For land moves I often zoom in for a close view of the front in a smaller area. For setting naval (or air) orders, I zoom out to view a much larger area. Best of both worlds. Give air/naval orders at closer to AE scale (in terms of amount of map you're focused on) but for land zoom in to tactical/operational level.

Those hexes are 5 nm, just for clarification.

In WITP:AE, I understand that the game turn could be changed to 2 days or more per turn.

As far as the 1 hour turns, it can be done with a certain setting or a player could go back and change something (orders/setting)
at the hour mark. I have not done so unless there was a crash.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.
