Gross Deutschland Kursk LCG

Post by Jason Petho »

Back in the saddle and after going some new Order of Battle listings in Cold War, showing off some of the new Warsaw Pact countries, we dove back into the East Front Linked Campaign that deals with Gross Deutschland at Kursk. The first scenario was filled with far too many losses, but we did manage to be successful in our attack and exit off the board. The second scenario looks like more of that beating ourselves against Russian defenders that seem to know how to shoot. It's a bloody affair, but a lot of fun!

We dove back in to the Linked Campaign where my core unit is a kampfgruppe of the Gross Deutschland during the Battle of Kursk. It's a doozy of a fight and we're suffering far too man casualties. We burned through two scenarios during this session, successfully, but the last one was a nail biter as there was a massive counter attack by T-34's and KV tanks. Talk about a nightmare and a half! But good fun, setting up ambushes - well, attempting too anyway!

It's a doozy indeed!

Watch your losses in the beginning, you don't get a lot of replacements nor do you get a lot of reinforcements!

Campaign Series East Front: After a brief update we dove back into the Gross Deutschland Linked Campaign that details the fighting around Kursk. We finished off the fourth scenario today with a minor victory. It was a rough go as there was some T-34's and KV tanks in my rear, but I managed to overcome and secure the towns we needed to hold the day. Next we are being sent over to the west to help 3rd Panzer Division, as they appear to be stalled. Next session will be extra exciting as we are expecting a large tank counter attack in our sector and we've been giving a couple handfuls of Panzer IVF2's to help! Exciting times!
