Trying to use UH60 Blackhawk Helos for lift

Post by Monkie »

I wanted to create a small scenario where some US Air Assault Platoons are lifted into position but it seems that the UH60 Blackhawks are only available in 2 ship sections which are unable to lift any platoon sized units. Am I missing something simple to be able to use the Medium Lift helicopters? I know the CH47/CH53's are used in the examples.

A US Air Assault Platoon requires 4.75t/35 crew which would be covered by 3 UH60's (4.785/36)

So a counter with 3 UH60's? perhaps this is in the TOE somewhere and I missed it?

It's not you, it's the data. I encountered this while setting up Rendezvous With Destiny, which is why it uses Chinooks instead.

I added Jira 6818 for Jim to revise the data to address this.

You can add two sections of helos, then load them in the Transport Planner with the ground troops.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!

Well in the scenario editor I wanted to preload the units on the helicopters and the Transport Planner is greyed out and not available.

Also when I run the scenario and the transport planner is available it only seems to look at each individual 2 ship section as far as lift capability, so it won't look at a 4 unit 8 ship group and determine what can be lifted. I'm guessing I would need to edit the TOE to have at least a 3 ship unit to get this to work but then again I'm still learning the transport menu.

Update: I just adjusted a custom TOE for the US for 4 ship sections for the medium lift helos like the UH1 and UH60, works well now.

Use Embark On in ScenEd.

Yes I understand that I can embark units, the issue was that UH60 and UH1 units only came in 2 ship which makes them unable to lift Air Assault Platoons so I just upped the number to 4 by editing a custom TOE.

I was able to get the Russian AI to do an air assault lift using the battle planner and was able to lift two separate companies of troops to seize two objectives. I made the last waypoint for the helicopter lift back to the eastern edge of the map however I see that the helicopters actually came back to the LZ area again for no reason since they had already unloaded all their troops.

Oh, I was just meaning that you can't use the TT planner, you have to use the Embark/Disembark buttons during ScenEd.

got it thanks, yeah I just think I will have to withdraw the helo units after they have completed their drop offs in the LZ so the AI doesn't continue to fly them back over the route again.
