Bottom Row

Post by forestrouse »

I am having problems with the bottom row. My opponent is Axis and is raiding the Egypt/Iraq -> UK convoy routes. If I scroll out, I see the indication of a sub on the bottom row. But if I zoom in to actually carry out an operation, I don't have any access to even see his sub on the map board.

My default screen resolution is 3840x2160. I've tried 1920x1440 and 1920x1200 and while I can see the sub then, the windows at the bottom of the screen make it impossible to have an attack.

I did try just running into him with a sub then following up with a destroyer attack on the hex that was off screen but that caused the game to crash with an error like "Error in writing to a buffer" (cannot remember the exact verbiage before the window disappeared).

Is there a workaround to this problem?

Also - I've tried to convince my opponent not to use the bottom row, but he isn't having the problem and thinks I am making these issues up.

Addendum: I saw on the Options > Settings menu, an item called "Windowed Mode". If I turn that off and restart the game, I can access row 137. In "Windowed Mode", I can only reliably see row 135.

What does "Windowed Mode" do? I can speculate, but I am not sure exactly what it does.

Also, there are only about 10 important hexes on the bottom row - they should be accessible in both modes.

Windowed mode puts the game into a moveable window, that you can minimize, and there is that possibility that the added Windows menu bar at the top then takes away some of the game play area in your case.

Good to hear you have a workaround in going full screen, e.g. at least turning Windowed mode off for now.

I'll add it to the list of possible things to look into.
