Advance to next unit
Some times when i cycle through advance to next unit is is omitting the air units - in the Ap Bac scenario i am doing right now it will cycle through units fine however it has ceased cycling through the air units aswell. Is this something I did by accident? how do i get it to cycle air units too again?

Re: Advance to next unit
One key thing with cycling units, is that if you have a unit selected, it will only cycle through that organization.
To cycle all units, make sure you don't have a unit selected. Hopefully that helps!

Re: Advance to next unit
That didnt work, if i click off all units it cycles through all land units, if i click on specifically the american helicopters it still cycles through land units but not the helicopters. It worked for most of the scenario but all of a sudden no longer cycles through air units

Re: Advance to next unit
I can check when I get home, I'm just on holidays to see family.
Hopefully someone else can check before hand.
Sorry for that, that's an oddity!

Re: Advance to next unit
enjoy your holiday! if it helps, i think it may have coincided with the choppers becoming low supply(this happened around the time it stopped cycling properly) but im not sure if thats the cause or not

Re: Advance to next unit
Hello Shaunchattey, and thanks for bringing this to our attention. I believe this is a documentation issue. While the tooltips and manual describe this feature as cycling through Next / Previous Unit, that’s not entirely accurate. It’s really a helper to ensure the player has reviewed all units available to them. The Next / Previous Unit commands move the map selection to the next hex stack that contains at least one unit “not processed” in the current phase. Units flagged with XHasMoved or XHasFired are treated as processed.shaunchattey wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 8:27 am https://limewire.com/d/iksZH#kzAl09wMBl

There are two ways this works:
Outside Organization Highlight mode:
- The commands ask the scenario for the next stack containing at least one unprocessed unit, then scroll to that stack and highlight the returned counter positions.
- The commands instead cycle through sibling organizations under the currently selected superior organization, jump to the hex containing the chosen sibling, and select all counters at that hex belonging to that organization, then highlight the next one per org file entries.
I did have a look at the save file you provided, thanks. Does this make sense to your situation?
Jason, perhaps we should update the manual at some point. I’ll add the “not processed yet” clarification to the tooltips

Re: Advance to next unit
For the helicopters then does this mean they have been given in error a hasmoved tag permanantly? as they havent moved or fired when i cycle them? additionally, i assume this may have happened because they ran out of supply?

Re: Advance to next unit
If I interpreted your save file correctly you had moved all your helos, yes? These flags are per phase, so for the beginning of your next phase, for turn 25, the Next / Prev Unit should include your airunits as well. And any other units as well that have not moved or fired yet on that phase (Side A Phase of Turn 25).shaunchattey wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 9:36 am For the helicopters then does this mean they have been given in error a hasmoved tag permanantly? as they havent moved or fired when i cycle them?

Which units in particular are you not getting highlighted? Just to make sure, you have the Highlight Organizations toggle not set?shaunchattey wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 9:52 am its possible in the save i had, but end turn and cycle beginning of the new turn, they still arent in the cycle queue

Re: Advance to next unit
I tested the game; it is because the helicopters went to 0 on supply ( i ran through the entire scenario did nothing except raise the choppers until they ran out of supply)
This time it is now only cycling through low level orgs, like one platoon, if i try to click off the units to cycle through all it says 'bad unit selection' this time, but the cause was definitely that the choppers went to 0 supply
*i believe the out of supply must have tripped some highlight org button?

Re: Advance to next unit
I checked the game i was just testing, highlight by org did shift on, when i remove that it cycles through the helicopters again and all units - so that was what happened. maybe the highlight orgs went on when the helicopters ran out of fuel for some reason???Crossroads wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 9:58 amWhich units in particular are you not getting highlighted? im not sure what was wrong, but i loaded up the file i sent you again, ended the turn, and it worked. I assume it was some setting i had - maybe it highlighting some org that only included the ground forces excluding helicopters - i suspect the highlight orgs like you said.

Re: Advance to next unit
There are the CH-21 transports in 25,25 and the UH-1C gunships at 29,28, I am seeing all those in the next/prev cycle, as well as the Birddog scout at 29,22 was it.shaunchattey wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 10:00 am I tested the game; it is because the helicopters went to 0 on supply

Are you saying this is not what you see in the beginning of turn 25?

Re: Advance to next unit
Ah, I see. Weird. I am glad to hear you are sorted, though! Btw I recommend exiting the game engine between sessions and launching the next scenario / save from the front end Scenario Browser. It is possible the File New / File Open method misses some parameters from being initialised as new. I am considering deprecating File New and File Open from the next version onward...shaunchattey wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 10:06 am im not sure what was wrong, but i loaded up the file i sent you again, ended the turn, and it worked. That is good to hear! As I wrote, our documentation is not completely accurate on this, we'll have it clarified for the next version.shaunchattey wrote: Sat Dec 27, 2025 10:19 am Im not sure what did it but it doesnt seem to be recurring (i tested 3 times now)
