1.06.96 beta available

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

1.06.96 beta available

Post by simovitch »

Happy Holidays.
If this checks out well it (along with some data updates) will become the official legacy version within the next few months. Download and unzip the btr.exe file and overwrite the current one in the main game folder. I've tested it quite a bit but Save the old one first in case you want to easily revert back.

Changes & Fixes:
• Fixed some bugs that were causing Defender Alert status to not reset correctly.
• Applied some play-balance tweaks to the Avalanche and Overlord scenario scoring putting more emphasis on the importance of troop strength.
• Defender players can now check the flight info display of an intercepting group to see what Attacker group is being targeted.
• More fixes to put an end to the dreaded turn-back bug.
• Fixed the occurrences where the Defending side AI player was able to use far more Ops points to move units and Flak than the human player was. I’ve been wanting to address this for a long time.
• Some optimizing of the Defender AI’s distribution of flak assets.
• Added some defending side AI smarts to reduce the number of intercepting groups targeting stragglers. Also, aircraft with low maneuverability will not try to intercept aircraft with >4 higher maneuverability difference.

Thank you, truly, for your continued work on this game. Deeply appreciated. You are making such a positive impact on the computer war game hobby and are an inspiration. There’s nothing else quite like this game on the market.

Hi Simovitch,

Thanks for the hard work as always. However, I cannot get this one to open. Downloaded and opened with Windows Explorer, Hit BTR.exe and I run the file overriding both Windows and Trend Micro Security checks but it comes back with "ERROR: unable to find BTR data". Never had a problem with your drops before ... any thoughts on how I can get it to run?

Did you copy it over to the main game folder (with the DAT subfolder in it) and overwrite the old one?

I downloaded it onto my lap top and copied it to the game folder and it works fine. If it's in the right folder on your machine, try running it as administrator.

I made a few adjustments and minor bug fixes based on your comments. night-fighting and straggler intercepts seems to be working better now and we will be releasing an official patch soon.

I'm not sure if it has been adressed before.
My oponent complains about the "save" option during our pbemail game.
We have been playing this game for years, so it could be a mistake but that's not probable. It seems that he have been planning today the Luftwaffe raids in BoB, and saving from time to time. After leaving the game and then returning later today, the load the saved file and it seems that it didn´t save the bulk of the planning made today, just the first saving but he have lost the rest of the planning.
