Tax added on purchase?

I was about to buy the game using an Anniversary Coupon, but after the discount was subtracted I got a 25% tax added so I didn't go through with the purchase. I have never before had tax added on any Matrix purchases. Why now? Steam doesn't add taxes. But I can't use the coupon there. Have terms for purchases been changed lately?

This is a better question for Matrix Support directly. We have no control or idea of how the pricing works. We have reached out to our Matrix producer, but an answer may be a week or so, as they are out on holiday break.
