[1.27c] Areals not growing

Hi, is there any limitation, apart the 3 tiles range, for developing farming terrain (areal)?
I know that I've only 25% chance to extend it every turn but now are several turns that farming areal is not growing anymore.
I have proper conditions for agriculture, sometimes the temperature is too high, but according to reports the Terran crops are fine below 60 degrees, best below 30 degrees, max penalty is -40% during some seasons.

6 tiles were converted but now they are not expanding/increasing in number anymore, even if there are other grassy tiles in 3 tiles range.
I found no indications about conditions needed for converting from grassy plans to agriculture terrain apart the 25% chance.
btw, I read that farming should be able to cut forests but I'm not sure about that.

I started thinking that maybe there are some conditions for tiles to convert, like average rain or average temperature of that tile.

That is fascinating. I am not sure if it is working as designed, but certainly in real life you would expect farms to tend towards the river.

I tried in game to place another farm next to the northern dry patch two tiles north of Newkirk and the farm produced an agricultural terrain in that tile but no more. So it seems to me that where you place a farm you get areal for sure.
Outside of that tile, other then 25% chance, it seems to me (but I'm absolutely not 100% sure, I tried understanding the code behind the exe) that the areal will expand only on tiles with enough "farmability", based on min/max temperature vs optimal and min/avg rain vs fixed thresholds.
I repeat, I may be very wrong, the code is quite complex for me but...

Would be very nice to have this info before you build the farm, of course!

amazing. never see expantion like this

farming should be able to cut forests
first - build furnace
second - farming
farming cut organic to nowhere

The relationship of the various hex facilities to the characteristics of the hex is another thing I enjoy tinkering with and guessing about. And the areal bonus mechanic is perhaps the most fun example of this.

My understanding is that any hex at all has a chance to be converted, excepting only mountains (+ sea, lava, glacier etc.). Even hexes which are sometimes or always outside of the viable temperature range can be converted to areal hexes. It seems like this is because the entire areal region is governed by the characteristics of the hex where the facility is located. And farms can be built in mountains.

Just my observations while playing, so also may be wrong. But that is how I proceed.

Anyways I don't know why your outlying fields are not expanding, above. They should. But the conversion probability seems to taper off, the die rolls can take way longer to come up than expected, and unless you've gone like 20+ turns I'd say just keep waiting.
