Wow, didnt know that one. Although in truth it is very strange to have the USSR meddle in China, and even more before the GE DOW.
Then, of course, the wrong control of the hex may have been the cause.

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
Shouldnt the Finnish units be isolated?
Just a sanity Check, IMO it should but maybe I might not be seeing something affecting.

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
Yes, it looks to me like they should be isolated. And OOS. Unless, of course, the weather is snow or blizzard. But then they should be OOS anyway.
Could you check on what supply route the program thinks that Mannerheim takes? Would be fun to see what route MWIF thinks is open.
Have you checked if it is the 'update bug' that has reappeared? That is fixed by restarting the game.

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
Thanks
I checked earlier, and the route was very short (only one of these path milestones, and not reaching any valid source, of course), I reloaded today to post the info, and now the units are correctly OOS and isolated. So I cannot whow you the route, but I recall it was to one hex only, not including sea transport or the primary source.
I didn't know (or can't remember) an "update bug", but that should be it, because now it appears correctly. We'll try to do this in the future. This image is obtained, of course, editing the file to run as H2H, since we aren't playing today,
We are using 8.00

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
Ok, I am asking this because my mate was not sure and I got so surprised I cannot believe this (IMO) bug.
There is always a CAP phase before any air action, isn't it?
Before Port Attack, Strat Bomb, Ground Str and Ground Supp...
The game doesnt let me, although my planes are in range for a CAP, so before I post it as a bug, would like to check that there is no reason I cannot see why this happens.
This is the hex
These are the planes for CAP:

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
Yes, there is a CAP step for ground support so the program should allow that.
Just to be sure; Have you checked that the CAP step for ground support is not disabled for Germany (in the command menu)?

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
I am positive I didnt change that "Command" options, and I am almost as sure that my mate didn't either, he doesnt know about and doesnt like much to tangle with the game options.
That was it. We'll activate them all. All active MP had them deactivated, only Vichy (IIRW) hadnt.
There is a bug, however, because we did not deactivate any CAP. And I would never have guessed because the previous impulse we were figthing in the USSR and CAPs were offered, we were having them and then that configuration changed. I will ask my mate but I am 99,9% sure he didnt either.
Thanks, Orm

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
Does enabling/disabling phases have a Shortcut that we may have activated by mistake when trying to bring other screens, like when you try to make a screenshot and use Windows+Shift+S? I already checked those in the manual.

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
The game does not allow you to change this option while playing NetPlay, so I changed to H2H and edited these options in the Shore Bombardment Phase. Then changed to NP and they were ok, but when the CAP phase arrived,it seems that they were wrong again. Will confirm in the next days in following sessions.
Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
Interestingly, the form says "During NetPlay and PBEM Games,". Looks like long ago, and in a Galaxy far, far away, an official PBEM game mode must have been contemplated.Joseignacio wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 4:35 pm The game does not allow you to change this option while playing NetPlay, so I changed to H2H and edited these options in the Shore Bombardment Phase. Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
Indeed, such a PBEM mode has been designed and advertised, before it was abandoned without prior implementation. I feel, this was one of the better development decisions, as PBEM mode would have been just a slightly automatised process of exactly how we play this game successfully since many years: Using Solitaire mode and sending files manually by chat program or by email, very easy and comfortable.
I remember to have even seen some forms in MWIF for PBEM mode, there you could set certain units conditionally to respond on actions in opponent impulses, e.g. for CAP, air interceptions or Naval Air Support.

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
I suggest to try the following: change your gamesave to solitair. Edit the options. Change back to netplay. Save, zip and send it to your opponent by e-mail, so that you both have the changed game to restore.Joseignacio wrote: Thu Feb 12, 2026 4:35 pm The game does not allow you to change this option while playing NetPlay, so I changed to H2H and edited these options in the Shore Bombardment Phase. I've done this in the past for an optional rule and it did work. I don't know if this is the solution, but it's worth a try.

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
In the past, there were moments (or versions of the game) that I wanst allowed to save BPs if we had not selected the Oil Rule.
I cannot see anything that makes this requirement necessary in the rules. Was this a bug? Can I confidently start a new game hoping I will be able to do it even not selecting the OIl rule?

Also:
I use this screen frequently. However, every time I have to click on the radio buttons as below, to turn them on. Is there a way to keep them on by default?
I have gone through the Players' manual and the Help in the game, but I found nothing.

Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
In both RAC and RAW the sections pertaining to saving oil and build points are in separate locations in the rules. They both reference the same optional rule, AFA Option 31. From the RAWs I would argue very strongly that if playing with option 31, you could save BPs whether or not you were playing with oil.Joseignacio wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 1:14 pm In the past, there were moments (or versions of the game) that I wanst allowed to save BPs if we had not selected the Oil Rule.

Oil & saving oil/BPs are two different toggles in MWIF. Now, how MWIF is coded if you do NOT play with oil but elect to save oil/BPs works I do not know. That is, if you don't play with oil does this prevent you from saving build points? I would argue it should NOT; but the only way to confirm (or refute) this is to try it out.

Yes, there is a way; or at least one way that I've found but it's indirect (i.e., a bit clunky).Joseignacio wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 11:11 am Also:

I have gone through the Players' manual and the Help in the game, but I found nothing.
(1) With your NRD form the way you wish (i.e., all the buttons you wished clicked), right click on the SL form & save (e.g., NRD-All-Clicks).
(2) Then, to get your NRD form with all clicks you'll right click again on the SL and restore to the NRD-ALL-Clicks.sly.
(3) Note that if you close the NRD form and reopen it, it'll default to only "Mine" units checked.
(4) To get the form with all the clicks to come up you'll need to right click on the SL form & restore to NRD-ALL-Clicks.sly.
(5) Now is this easier than opening the NRD form and clicking everything each time vs restoring the NRD-ALL-Clicky.sly?
(6) For me, probably not; but maybe for others?

I am positive that the game didnt let me save BPs in the past, and there was a pop-up message (IIRW) that this was because we were not using oil and you needed both. That was several years ago and with an older version.
I may have asked whether this was Working as Intended or a Bug, can't recall the answer in case I did.
It seemed to me that the RAC (and the RAW) allowed to save BP regardless, but it might be that I was missing something, because the info related to a certain feature comes many times affected by various sections.
I have just begun a new game some days ago, without oil, I wanted to be prepared, instead of having to load again the Production Phase because I could not save some points... I will comment what I see in the next Prod Phase.
Re: New to the game - Basic Questions
No idea how this works in MWIF, but I am sure it was intended to work independently. Also pretty sure that it is a bug if it does not.Joseignacio wrote: Mon Feb 16, 2026 1:14 pm In the past, there were moments (or versions of the game) that I wanst allowed to save BPs if we had not selected the Oil Rule.

However, in the boardgame they were a package, as far as I recall. Saving BPs, and saving oil, were both part of the same optional rule. So splitting them was not an option unless, of course, the players agreed to do so.
Sorry for the late reply.
