The keys (buttons) you are referring to are something that the designer of the scenario/random game type, can set and unset. If you do not see them, that is because they've not been added to that scenario/random game type.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for the information! I found the "A New Dawn Randon Game" has the keys I was looking for. I want to edit the scenario "East Front 1941 (Vic AI Edit) v2 at 2. When you go to "A New Dawn Randon Game" it opens to Make Random Scenario Gold page that has a Anewdawn3.at2 button that takes you to the scenarios that you can click on (Vic AI Edit) v2 at 2 but it won't load. Years ago now I made insignias of most of the German army divisions for SSG Kharkov Disaster on the Donets. I want to import these for this scenario. I have tried to modify the Nato graphics but the program would not let me. How do I make mods for this game. I now realize this is an older game and I wish I had found it sooner. I like the game system and the idea of the AI simply attacking all the time fits with Russian tactics. Always wanted a solo game. Now the Russian units were only numbers but i doubt if I'll try to modify them or axis minors. But see the armored divisions roaming across the stepps of Russia would be a thrill. To go even more to make smaller unit types. Not just Division but Brigades and heavy Tiger Tank Battalions, AT Battalions of all types. Do the research what new unit comes on the board. What units once destroyed never rebuilt and the ones that are constantly rebuilt. accuracy
tired now thanks for any help you can give!!! :)

Hi there,

I am unsure exactly what you want to do, but it sounds like you have dreams of making a scenario. Which is Great!

The process you've been using however is wrong. When you want to make a scenario, there are basically two ways to begin.

a). Starting from scratch (or from a masterfile, rather), by using the button "Editor" on the first page you get when loading up ATG. This will start up a dialogue where it will ask for the dimensions of the scenario you want to make. It will then generate a map, where there is only one type of landscape on it, 1 hex that is of a regime that has the name default.. etc... Basically a barebones starting point. From there you then can either import (by setting a masterfile, which is basically another scenario)... This is a lot of work, all of it.

b). You can change a scenario that already exists. You do this by loading up the scenario, and then pressing the button called "Edit". It is down to the left on that screen. This will allow you to edit a scenario, with it's current masterfile, again this just means the various menu items filled out, so to speak.

Basically that is the first choice you need to make.

Once you've done that, assuming you want to make new graphics, you are going to need to make a folder in the subdirectory Graphics, where ATG is installed. This will make sure that nothing is overwritten of the graphics when an update is made to ATG, where graphics could have been improved for the scenario you are making. Rule number 1 is, don't overwrite anything that already exists, as it can be overwritten again. So it also goes without saying that you will need to save your scenario under a new name...

That should be step one.

Now let's say you want to redo a scenario. Like it sounds like you want to. In that case, it may pay off to look around in the scenario bank, on the VRDesigns.net site. Believe me there are a lot of scenarios there that seem related to USSR in one way or another.

You could also poke around in the many scenarios that the game comes with. I believe there is a scenario called "Russia 41 Gold" in the subdirectory "New WW2". With minimal changes to the settings TO&E (what you described) can be added to it, that is if you are satisfied with it as it looks.

Many many many things I'd like to impart... but how much is relevant is hard to know... Keep asking :)

I did get on the website and download Ostfront which is exaclty what i wanted in the way of units. Divisions Brigades even Battalions for Stugs and Tigers I assume. Now I just want to import my insignias for each. I found the NATO file but it won't let me modify it. Also is there anyway to make this senario longer like the full war in the east to May of 1945 say. Would I have to write an AI or would the game do it for me? How do I change the length of the game? The NATO file has over 300 slots for images which more than enough for what I need. I am not very computer savvy so sorry if I seem slow but this still looks like the game I have always dreamed of.

you said to keep asking so....
I'm not understanding the supply system at all. I have looked at the post on supply for newbies but I'm still lost. I'm running low on fuel and don't know how to improve it. These cities with supply how do I transfer it or change it into war material.

Most senarios have a long list at the top of the page that I don't know how to replenish. Engines Hulls pilots and so on.
Yet in the Ostfront game only fuel is listed at the top and I can find no oil fields on the map.

For me the simpler the better. If you read my profile my father is a WWII veteran so yes that puts me in my 70's. I learned to type on a manual typewriter in Highschool and my first computer was DOS. So if I only understand on the simplest terms please forgive me.

As for the insignia question I've put is on the back burner till I understand the game better.
Thanks for your time

I have made a smallish tutorial about how supply functions:

https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewtopic.php?t=414814

I may expand on it.

Also I found the original thread in the Mods section, where the Mod is described.

https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewtopic.php?t=134744

Also I made the following thread, that I hope Khanti who made the scenario, will answer in (and I will do the same).
