More issues...

Post by Suribachi »

Hi,
I just installed WITP AE on my new 18" gaming laptop and have two issues. I cannot get total wide screen view, I have about 2" of black on each side. I also have very slow panning left/right. I've tried the search and some of the suggestions to no avail. Hoping someone can look at my command line and see if I got something in there that may be causing these issues. My target command line is:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -SingleCpuOrders -cpu2 -fd -pxf2560 -pxy1600 -dd_sw -altFont -cloud -skipVideo

I carried this over from my previous 18" laptop, it worked fine. Any help/suggestions are much appreciated. Any new switches to add that makes the game better would be great as well!

Thanks,
Bill

remove the -cloud (I don't think that's valid)

and add

-deepColor

You could have multiple issues going on.

Not sure where you got the -cloud switch.

-deepColor can help, as can -dd_sw.

Also, if the new laptop has better resolution and/or if you're set up for different display focus (e.g. 125% vs 150%) that can also affect it.

Thank you, gentlemen! I added deepColor. Cloud is actually a switch from many years ago - adds clouds to the game! The new laptop has much better graphics/resolution and is currently set at 150%. I tried 125%, no difference as far as achieving full screen. Is it because my new laptop can go much higher resolution and WITP AE is topped out at 2560?

It pans great now!

I have gotten it to run on larger screens, however it didn't like it very much with many "issues" that it just became less hassle to top out at -pxf2520 -pyf1480 in Windowed mode.

Something you can play around with is the Compatibility tab.
I've found that by going into "Change high DPI settings"
and selecting "High DPI scaling override",
with a setting to "Application"

that I got the most stable result.

I've never heard of -cloud before and I've been playing a long time.

The game doesn't like scaling so either set it to 100% or do what Admiral said.

I'd also just use the last CPU, not the second as the system tends to uses the last one least.

Thanks again! I got it to full screen by using the "stretch" option in the Nvidia app. Seems to be okay/stable. There used to be a couple of good websites devoted to WITP AE which provided great info and identified all the switches, sadly they aren't around anymore. I'll play around with the CPU switch and see if it helps/makes any difference.

Just ask here in the forum. Most of the inhabitants don't bite (maybe because they don't always have their dentures in all the time).

It's possible there is a -clouds switch to put in the game shortcut, but it is also an on/off choice you can make in preferences - either in the radio screen or the second button at the top of the game screen.
