New scenario for testing: Battle of Mullaitivu, 1997

Post by Stanley_The_Rolmate »

Hello everyone, I've got a new scenario for you all to test. The scenario is set in the Sri Lankan civil war.
I'm very interested to hear opinions and suggestions.

Scenario description:
Battle of Mullaitivu, 1997

During the Sri Lankan Civil War, the LTTE's naval arm, known as the Sea Tigers conducted numerous daring and effective operations against the Sri Lankan navy.
Among these were various attacks against Sri Lankan ships sailing between Trincomalee and the Jaffna peninsula. The Sri Lankan navy reduced the risk of these attacks by having their ships sail in convoys further out to sea where the Sea Tigers did not operate.
Throughout the 1990s, the Sea Tigers had been steadily increasing their capabilities. On the 22nd of March 1997, a flotilla of Sri Lankan ships was ordered to depart Trincomalee and sail north to Jaffna under the cover of night. Unknown to them, the Sea Tigers had decided to put their new strength to the test.

Thanks for the scenario :)

A few things noticed:

1. In the zip there is a second and strange 0 file format file.

2. In the briefing/description there is no explanation of what LTTE means.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberatio ... amil_Eelam

3. There are not victory/defeat thresholds.

4. You can easily avoid fight plotting NE and then NW to Point Pedro. For some reason you should be obliged to follow and patrol the coast or the threshold for victory/triumph should include the points for sinking the LTTE boats.

5. There is no message when the leader ship arrives to destination.

6. Typos:
- One of the events has the trigger LITTE ship sunk, instead of LTTE.
- SLAf in the description, SLAF?

Just uploaded the right version. Scoring, scenario end and the message should be working now. I thought about adding a no nav zone to force you the player to sail close to the coast, though I couldn't really think of a way to explain it in the context of the scenario. If you sail to Point Pedro without fighting the LTTE you should get enough points for a minor victory though. The strange file is the template that was generated by command. I'll take a look at expanding the description.

Tested the new version.

The resulting messy naval battle may be won, risking the Dvoras and protecting the Parakramabahu.

However it takes time, and the scenario ended before could arrive to Point Pedro. Still got a triumph :)
