Gary Grigsby’s Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich - Update v1.06.92

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Thank you. :)

Hallo zusammen,

Hi Simovitch,

Tested the current fix with the axis campaign and would note the following issues:
  • The intercept bug is still alive so needs a bit more savage tweaking. Allied raid 27 Oct 43 on UFACs around Oldenburg. Had 152 x german acft pursue 1 x damaged B24 until they were bingo on fuel, and 96 x ME 410 chased 3 x B17G stragglers from the UFACS all the way till they turned back over the channel.

Please kill off the 'damage due to icing' report on message level 3, it takes forever to run each pulse when you are getting 10-20 reports each turn. I like the detail but it is either too frequent or too much.

Night Fighting is still a tragic waste of time and any resources devoted to it. Last allied raid to Stuttgart cost the allies 2 bombers with over 250 german NFs committed; most at the raid height or 1000ft above it. Previous night cost the allies 6 bombers (4xFlak, 2xNFTR) to over 300 x NFTR intercepting over Hamburg .... Please consider another look at this issue (I know it has been a constant problem swinging from too much to now way too little).

    Sincerely, AKL

thanks for the input. The icing thing was left on for playtesting, I'll remove it.

There needs to be a balance with intercepting stragglers and intercepting the main raid. I noticed that the LW suffered more casualties when their attention is focused on the big raid.

Always happy to help test things for you. I have ceased playing at the moment to see if you are going to release another update. The allied campaign is the inverse of the Axis campaign in that is a bit too easy with a lot of interceptors chasing a few stragglers and Bomber Command working with near impunity. For your consideration and advice.

Following the patch, the Mosquitos of No. 515 Sqn, 100 (BS) Gp are no longer available for night intruder missions.

Can this be corrected, please?
The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind.

It was equipped with the Mk IV Fighter bombers which is not an intruder type. Allowing these to fly night missions was causing weird things with the AI missions.
