Runway Damage

Post by DWReese »

Is there a way to determine EXACTLY how much capacity a runway can handle if it is now listed as Reduced Capacity after it is damaged?

I have a 4000m/13k ft. Runway which received 69% damage due to a missile attack.

The Damage details indicate that it is Operational, with Reduced Capacity. Obviously, at full capacity, it can accommodate Very large Aircraft.

So, what can it handle when it has suffered Reduced Capacity? I've looked everywhere, but I can't find it.

I don't know if I'm going to have to either try to land, or try to take off with various types of aircraft just to find out.

Is this info listed somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response.

If I am understanding this correctly, then with 69 percent damage, the runway would have 31 percent integrity. With 31 percent integrity, the runway should be able to handle a Medium Aircraft.

I was able to launch and land a very large aircraft, a B-52, so I figured that there was something wrong. In checking with the unit I see that the airport has a 4000m Runway-Grade Taxiway. Based on this, I assume that the B-52 was able to use that to take-off and land. Is that correct? I also assume that a launch rate slow down would also be in order due to the fact that the taxiway is also having to be used for two purposes.

If I am wrong about my assumptions, then please let me know.

Thanks

There is no need to post a save. I tested it by eliminating the Runway Taxiway, which meant that the Runway was damaged, and the Taxiway was now none existent, and the B-52 would no longer take off. As an added note, I restarted the scenario and tried to add a B-52 to the base, and immediately received a popup which stated that the B-52 could not operate from that base because of the runway limitation. So, it works great.

I guess the thing to learn is that many of the bases have Runway Grade Taxiways which can serve as a second runway. So, both need to be hit if you hope to shut down the base.

Thanks for the chart.
