LCU list DPI Issues

Post by nico71 »

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased the game and while I am very interested in the depth of the simulation, I am struggling with severe UI scaling issues on a high-end 4K environment.
My System Specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5080
RAM: 64 GB
OS: Windows 11
Display: 4K (3840x2160), Windows Scaling set to 150% (Standard)

The Problem:
I've managed to get most of the game looking "okay-ish" by tinkering with the WIS_Settings.INI and the in-game preferences. However, the LCU List (Land Combat Unit List) remains completely unreadable/unplayable.
I am stuck in this situation:

Without the launch fix, the text suffers from severe vertical clipping. The font size exceeds the fixed height of the UI containers/boxes, cutting off the bottom of the letters.
If I apply the launch fix, the text becomes microscopic and impossible to read without a magnifying glass.
I have already tried different settings in the ini-file, but it doesn't seem to affect the LCU window.
It seems the UI containers do not scale dynamically with the font size. On a modern 4K monitor, this makes managing ground units a massive headache.

I’ve attached a screenshot showing the clipping issue.
Any help or official word on a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, have more or less same issues. Zooming out, I get more or less a normal map to see, but when I zoom in I get a bright green screen. Jumpy map also. Have made a ticket, but solutions offered only to update my graphic drivers and this didn't make any difference!

Try adjusting your DPI setting lower. I have mine at 100%....GP

Are you running a intel video processor? If you have a second video processor try switching to that. This frequently solves the problem....GP

Setting UI scaling to 100% makes EVERYTHING tiny. So can this game handle 4K displays with reasonably sized text?

Do you have dual video cards? Try 125 DPI....

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have tested 125% as well, and the result is the same: The text is clipped at the bottom. The problem is the LCU box only, not the main game screen.

Here is the exact behavior I am observing on my 4K screen:
100% DPI: The text fits in the box, but on a 4K monitor, it is physically too small to read (microscopic).
125% / 150% DPI: The font size increases, BUT the row height in the LCU List does not increase.
It appears that the vertical height of the text containers in the LCU List is hardcoded to a fixed pixel value. It does not scale dynamically with the font size.

Unlike the main window in the game where I could fix things via the INI, this specific list seems to lack the ability to expand its rows.

To reproduce this:
You need a native 4K resolution (3840x2160). Set Windows Scaling to anything above 100% (which is standard for 4K). You will see that the text grows, but the line it sits in does not.

The Fix needed:
We need a patch/hotfix that either:
A) Increases the hardcoded row height for the LCU list entries, OR
B) Allows the row height to scale dynamically with the selected DPI/Font setting.
Changing my system DPI to 100% renders the computer unusable for everything else and the game unreadable due to tininess. Changing it to 125/150% breaks this specific UI element.

The problem is with some video cards. My development machine has 4K monitors and it's scaled OK to 200% and more. I usually have it at 175%. The side bar and controls should scale with the DPI, but it looks like just the text is scaling. We had one beta tester that had the clipping, but their DPI scaling was set extremely high, setting it back to around 150% fixed it for them, but it looks like it won't work at all for you at any scaling.

We will have a patch soon and I'll work on fixing this. I forget what it's called now, but the alternate graphics fix button is only intended for people with Intel GPUs. For everyone else it probably won't make any difference with the graphics and the game will run a bit slower.
