War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

"Having a go at the game now! A couple of things: the 'plane & weapon database' info box shows up empty for me. Also, there's a bug where if you load a Nationalist save without Republican AI turned on, you can see the enemy's side.

On a side note: could you make the text in the info boxes larger? There’s a fair few of us 'veteran' players whose eyes aren't what they used to be!" :geek:

Amusing enough, there is a built in magnifier in the game. (M-key)

I have the same issue with the "Plane and Weapon" and "Naval" databases being empty. I will admit that I have yet to run a turn as I am reading the manual and forum to learn what I am doing before processing any turns.

Not working. Clicking on the underlying database buttons are still resulting in a blank box.

There are no planes for the nationalists at the beginning...
(they slashed their tires so they couldn't fly to the republicans)

But you would see the ships, do you have All types ships turned on?

My guess is a corrupt file because I DL'd the same files and I get the database. Try re-downloading and installing the game...GP

I find that if I am playing in "Windowed" mode, I get the blank database boxes. If I choose not to play in "Windowed " mode then the database screens work as normal. This is using the game as installed, with default preferences and no command line changes.

Edit: I am no longer so sure. First of all, it seems that the mode comes up random whether or not I choose Windowed mode. At this time I have "Windowed mode" "checked" with 1920x1080 resolution (which is the same as my resolution choice in Microsoft Windows) and the game is coming up non-windowed with the database boxes working as designed. Other times I start the game in "windowed mode" it actually comes up in a windowed mode and the database boxes just show the buttons with no text or data display. Admittedly, it could be the 1920x1080 choice in game preferences. Any other choice leaves monitor screen space unused. I like my game to fill the screen except for the windows bar at the bottom. In, say, 1440x1080 the game window leaves desktop background space off to the side.

I am providing this feedback because I am very keen on this game. The logistical detail is very interesting so I want to help as much as possible by providing feedback. Please don't take it as whining.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. For some reason in this view, we set the default database to "none selected".
Currently you have to press one of the buttons to see one of the DB.
We will change it so that to upper left button is pre-selected.

Joe, that isn't the issue. There are times, usually when I am playing in windowed mode the buttons have no descriptors and clicking on them brings nothing up. However, both this phenomena and the actual implementation of "windowed mode" have been very inconsistent. Sometimes when windowed mode is chosen the game comes up full screen. Other times it comes up as a window. To be sure, I deleted and re-installed the game and continue to suffer this inconsistency.

Interesting. Once we can reproduce these phenomena we will be able to fix. So far unable :(

But its still true that the database selection should populate with something other than blank. We can reproduce and fix that !

I wish that I knew enough to help. I do believe that it came about by all my attempts to find a graphics setting in the game preferences menu that I could work with. Right now I have windowed mode chosen and the database buttons are accessible. However, the game takes up the full screen and the only way to switch to the forum without closing the game is to use alt-tab. I bounced around between a lot of different resolution settings in game, as well as using or not using windowed mode, Same with dynamic stretch and enforce low detail art.

Present settings: 1920-1080p resolution and Windowed mode. No other choices checked.

My computer is a little old:
Intel i5-10400
8GB RAM
GeForce GTX 1650 Super (4GB)
1 TB SSD

My monitor resolution setting is as suggested by Windows 1920x1080.

Again, right now the text in the database boxes are visible and Windowed Mode is chosen, though it doesn't appear to be in windowed mode as the windows bar across the bottom is neither visible or accessible. At this moment I am loathe to exit the game for fear that glitches will return.

I think there's a "windowed mode" with no task bar shown - so sounds like you're in that mode.

Nope, in my windows settings I have the taskbar locked and did not choose either of the automatically hide the taskbar settings (desktop or tablet mode). It appears to be an issue with the game settings, not with my Windows settings - at least from what I can tell.

Believe it or not, you have twice as much RAM as I do and a larger SSD. I don't recall the chip exactly but I bought my laptop off of the shelf. Yet my game runs fine even though it is an HP . . .

LOL.... but mine is a desktop computer. So it should be a more powerful rig, right? :? My laptop is an even older Dell, which I can play AE on but am not going to try to install this game on it yet.
