amphibious landings

Post by bradfordkay »

If you are landing your troops in what you believe to be an undefended base, is it better to set their objective to that base or to what is your ultimate goal? This question is especially pertinent to the Balearic Islands scenario in which you don't have enough time to have your units plan for the latter after taking the first.

Well, since units will automatically reset their target to the base that they are attacking, then setting the target to the base will help. But one thing to note, when you reset the target that your units will only lose part of the prep based on the distance from the original target base to the new target base.

What I just experienced is that there was seemingly no serious penalty for an amphibious landing in an undefended enemy port with units prepping to attack a different base.

Nearby bases only have slight penalty. The more distant the base you are prepping for, is, from the one you are attacking, the greater the penalty.

The prep target changes to the base being attacked, the amount of prep lost is based upon the distance to the previous target.

When making an amphibious landing at an undefended enemy base, my units remained prepped for the final objective for which they were training to attack. The prep target did not change to the undefended base. This has happened with three different landings - two on Mallorca and one on Ibiza.

That is nice but if those units attack a different base then the setting should change. When changing to an adjacent base, if I remember correctly, my units would only lose 1 point of prep.
