Going from bad to worst - Settings

Post by Mkha2023 »

Hello,

i seek your guidance in solving problems in launching this game.

I will start by complimenting the Developers and Matrix for doing a - what seems to be - thorough, deep and well researched game on the Spanish Civil War. Its a good idea.

Although, its been an atrocious effort to try to play this:

1) first all went well except the LCU list kept flickering as a moved the mouse over it, which was very annoying.
2) as soon as i changed the monitor definitions all hell broke loose.
a) LCU list became transparent
b) LCU list then not showing at all, and then looked like the game was running very slow.
c) The game froze on the map view, i CTRL ALT DEL to get task manager and then the preferences taskbar showed up and a black screen behind it. I could not get to taskmanager...
d) preferences bar froze, i could do noting on my pc.
e) tried to reset preferences: crashed.

Any help will be apreciated!

I was able to reset the preferences, and play a little, without changing graphics settings again:

1) the flickering LCU list continues;

2) the magnifying lense (a good idea!), with pressing M, doesnt magnify. It takes a screenshot of the area and move it around as the mouse moves. Not useful. :)

3) the black info box disapeared (not sure i i clicked anywhere for it to go away, but i think not).

Thanks,

I just fiddled around and turned off the Launch fix. Now it seems much better

The file "ddraw.dll" is orginally located in the "Manual" folder.
Once you click the "Launch fix", the file will be moved into the top level of the game folder.
Just move it manually back into the Manual folder.
Hope this helps

Your sugestion helped get things back together. Magnifying lense is working now. Black info box also is on. LSU and disapering LCU list is now stable and working.

The only problem now is the lettering on top became almost unreadable.

And the map zoom not being scalable (due to bmp files?). But i guess a future mod will take care of that. :)

Thank you!

The lettering was that option in preferences to use low quality art. Now is is very much readable.

Now only for the quality of the map in zoomed in view needs to be adressed.

It looks it might very well be a fantastic game :)

I wondered why the LCU window stopped working suddenly...

You can also click Launch Fix on the launcher again to deactivated, so that you don't have to manually move the ddraw.dll file back to the 'Manuals' folder.
