Quick Questions Thread

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

Quick Questions Thread

Post by Q-Ball »

I think it's better to create one thread for quick questions; that works well in other forums, so forgive me if this ISN"T a good idea.

Anyway, here is my quick question: Is there a hotkey or way to see ALL friendly movements paths on the map at once? I thought there was in a Dev Diary, but not finding it. REALLY would be helpful if there were, you can see all your orders

Congratulations to the developers on the release, I can't wait to try it out. Sorry if the question has already been asked: will it be possible to buy WIS on Steam?

Another Question: To confirm, it does not appear that the French Border holds any logistical or other significance for the Republic. Is that correct?

IRL, there were occasional arms deliveries over that border, and consistent food/other deliveries, and taking Irun was a problem for the Basques.....but I could see it would be difficult to model supply sources from France in the game

I would do that by having a town close to the border being a supply source.

Is it possible to save games on the cloud? I have a laptop and a desktop and I imagine playing this on both. Thanks!

You can copy the save files to other locations.

Does it always require an attack order to clear an empty town? Or is it sufficient to simply sit there for a day?

I've been using an attack order to make sure

It would be nice if towns flipped just by having units pass through, but I suppose reprisals and flag raising takes time

Yes, you must use an attack order. An attack order essentially represents a desire to gain control over the area, not simply pass through.

Note: if a base flips, your units default back to defend order, otherwise you're units would remain in attack order.

How are LB (landing barges) used for compared to normal transports? It isn't clear to me how packing the barges works/what they are useful for.

Landing craft for amphibious invasions . . .

Depending upon the river, brown water operations.

Hi, I'm not a WitP veteran so the learning curve is slightly steeper for me perhaps and I'm figuring things out as I go.

Playing as the Republic I can't seem to figure out how to use my Vildebeest torpedo bombers- they will "attack" enemy ships but haven't released any torpedos. I currently have their cruise altitude at 4k and release at 1k- do these need to be even lower? Thanks!

Actually you want to save the torpedoes for the larger ships. But you have to select what the ordinance is; be it torpedo, bomb, or choice. You can set them to 100 feet if you want to try it.

Move supplies/fuel to coastal hexes with bases without a port ( i am thinking landing in Baleares islands as any side and owning a base without port ( not many of those), or with a base the other side of a big ( navigable) river without rail conection to your own rail network). Maybe directly to units in coast, or other side of a river, without a base owned to resuply them?

How does one actually access the replacement screen from section 8.2.5 of the manual? I have been trying for almost an hour without any luck.

It was a bit triky to find, yep.

PD: on the second screen, the one to the upper left, click on any of the yellow words ( men, gun, afv).

The LBs in the game (except for a few WW1 British LBs) are a mix of coastal and fishing boats.

They are used as additional AKL ships with a small radius.

Of course, there are no amphibious large landing craft in the game that could activate any LB or LCI etc.

Hi. I understand that this game is more like WiP:AE than WiTE2, but after watching a few videos, a question arose:

Is there an option in the game to create new units yourself from the manpower pool and armaments (like the Soviets in WiTE2)? Or is there only historical units in the game and you can't create new ones? How much freedom does the player have in the game to control the resource pools themselves?

It depends upon the settings in your preferences if you want to create new units, subject to the number and types of devices available. I know very little about WITE2 since I don't own it.
