Replicable Crash Report

Post by KtoTam »

Crash took place while trying to view the full unit list at Valladoit. Prior to the crash LCU list window would display correctly, but clicking on the full list would bring up the full list of LCUs at Cannaries instead of Valladoit. Crash report attached at the bottom, saves via the google drive as forum does not allow .dat extension to be uploaded.

Latest pre crash save.

Separately but maybe relatedly 7a admin division at Valladoit does not appear on full unit list when only HQ unit type is selected, but does disappear when HQ type is unselected.

All units

Without closing the game I have loaded a pre crash save and continued setting up T1. After a while LCU list started struggle more than usual with getting redrawn correctly again.

Opening detailed view of any LCU was forcing correct redraws as usuall. However There were oddities with full LCU list. This time at Burgas. It defaulted to German nationality and then even when set to your side or Nationalistic Spain it would display no units. A bunch of cliks here and there to try to get "fixed' resulted in an eventual crash.

Crash report and b suffix ops report that was also generated even though I did not press end turn attached in a zip. I did not remember to make a save file while the full LCU list weirdness was going on, but will do so if it happens again.

Upon a bit more poking around I have managed to consistently replicate the symptoms I have witnessed pre crash as well as the crash. They are independent but share a common culprit, the Full List button on the LCU List window. Moreover they are reproducible by starting Scenario 1 as either Republicans or Nationalist.

For the visual errors with the Full LCU List
Method:
1. Click on a base with at least 1 LCUs. Some of the bases I tested were Burgos and Miranda De Bueho
2. CLick Full List on LCU List
3. Exit full list
4. Click Update Hex on LCU List
5. Click Full List on the base from step 1 and witness wrong units show up. Interestingly exclusively ENG and CD units.

Examples
Burgos after updating hex at Serracin.

Notes
  • At step 4 you can click Update Hex after clicking on any hex, it does not have to be the hex from step 1.
  • [Clicking an empty hex causes the Full List to be empty.
  • Clicking Update Hex at a given hex causes the same set of units independent of where Full List was clicked.
  • [ LCU List still displays correct units but there are issues as reported in previous posts with its top par struggling to get fully drawn.
  • Clicking Full List on another base than the one from step 1 will display a correct list, doing so after step 4 will fix the list at the base from step 1.
  • Once a bad list exists at a certain base you can exit to main menu reload a prior save from the given campaign prior and the glitch will persist. At least as long as the save was taken is on the same turn I haven't checked persistence across turns.
And now for the crash
Method:
1. Click on a base with at least 2 LCUs ( My test sites were Madrid and Burgos)
2. Click Full List
3. Exit full list
4. select a unit unit from the bar at the bottom of the screen.
5. Click Merge
6. Move at least 1 device to the other unit but do not press excecute Merge
7. Press exit
8. Press Full List

Now a crash should happen.

Both issues are fully reproducible from either a clean a clean start of campaign at T0, but apart form a bunch of crash reports is also a save file I was mostly in the ziped folder.

PS. Finding bugs in someone elses' work is much more relaxing then in ones own. Especially when it is that someone else that has to deal with them.
PPS. Fulfilling squashing.

Thanks for all the detail. I found the problem and it will be in 1.0.2. It didn't make it into 1.0.1
