Overkill

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

Overkill

Is there anything you can do to avoid this overkill/waste of ammo?

Those ships would had sunk with like 1/10 of the hits they have received.

I imagine most of those shell hits are from small caliber (machinegun type guns) that do little damage. The game appears quite proud to announce every bullet hit :)

Not really. If you do not expect resistance you can have them sail without torpedoes.
A right side mouse button click on "re arm from port" should dump all torps into the pool.
But there is not currently a way to tell a TF which weapons to use.
The only responsible person. (Unless I can frame someone else)

You can keep your ships at home. But really, a lot of those hits are light AA fire, if you hit one of the "flag" symbols during the combat, you will see a list of what guns hits what ship.
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

So if this is normal to see ship sinking by being hit by several 7.7mm bullets then the game has a serious problem.

Have you had any ship sunk with only 7 mm bullets???? really??? Did you caught any screenshot?
I have needed some of those and couple torpedoes and/or 120mm/76.2 mm in the tens....

Why is the last line of the report cut off? Or what is "Starb"?

3 torpedoes (and the poster does not specify how many torps were launched in total) for that AK target only is still too much.
Devs better tweak something to limit it according to the target, otherwise in high intensity engagements WITPAE style this detail could easily become critical.

Look at the skill levels of the crews firing the weapons . . .

It also depends upon the torpedo size and thus the warhead size, you probably won't get too many large naval engagements in WIS like people do in WITP:AE.

A player can apparently also offload torpedoes from his ships.
