[RESOLVED] patrol mission on station aircraft section greyed out

Post by pboiler »

Maybe I'm mistaken and this is working correctly and don't understand how it's supposed to work, but the section in the mission editor for an AAW patrol in which you can select "try to keep X units on-station (0 to ignore) and the 1/3 rule and evaluated by class... is greyed out and I can't adjust the inputs.

I'm using build 1776.

I believe this happens any time the player chooses a take off time or time on station. You need to select the flight size, number of a/c on station first and then set the ToT time. To "ungrey" just delete ToT, make changes and redo.

Yes, it's a bit confusing (and it's a bug on the UI and a deeper bug in the FP generation).

The issue is basically this:

When you use flight plans (FPs) in a mission, the FP generation only works for the initial launch. For example, if you assign 6 aircraft to a mission with the 1/3rd rule, only the first two aircraft will have a flight plan generated. When these ACs return to base, no new aircrafts will take off.

To make sure all aircraft in the mission have FPs generated, you need to uncheck the 1/3rd rule and set "Units on Station" to 0. The goal was to have these selectors grayed out since they don’t have any practical functionality here, but the problem is they are currently grayed out under the wrong settings instead of the ones needed to make this work.

Once all the FPs are generated, you can then manually tweak the "Time on Station" for individual flights to maintain continuous coverage.
