Planet Design Questions

Post by BKL »

I have three questions related to planet design:

(1) Is there any way to edit planet design, or make it more likely to get certain parameters (besides the initial setup options)? For example, through modding or a text file, etc.?

(2) In the history after the Disolution War, there is often something indicated about a nuclear attack or nuclear core blowing up....will this have an adverse impact as areas in the game to avoid (I don't want to deal with radiation issues if possible)? Also, is this needed to get atomic/nuclear resources?

(3) What's the best way to prevent having native animals that attack from being creative, if possible?

In general, I'm looking for a relatively calm planet and trying to figure out how to generate one.

Thank you, BKL

Having spent hours genning maps for PBEM and throwing plenty away:

1. I am not smart enough to tell you how, but it's likely possible to influence planet gen variables with Dnspy. Don't quote me on this.

2. Yes, but it's also possible to end up with radiation areas without any explicit meltdown/nukes/solar flare events listed in the Apocalypse section.

3. Younger worlds, not toggling Alien life option, more hostile environments, not playing Medusa, having a barren world terraformed towards Earth standards

1. Yes, apart from potentially code modding there's also tables containing the weights for planet generation types and for all the planetary events. Not sure how these work though.

2. Yes. More of these events, more radiation zones on your planet. Not needed for atomics, that's driven by planet parameters(heavy metal percentage, mountainous terrain).

3. Starting planet type and extra rules can change alien parameters. Also ofc, good atmosphere, temperature range, and planet age all drive alien life. The older the planet the more aliens evolve and likely nastier they become.
