So, here we are. So after all this summer wondering what exactly the plan of the enemy was, I think I finally figured it out. Priority #1 was the Oil Fields. Priority #2 was Leningrad and Priority #3 was Moscow. The Germans sent the infantry to take Leningrad, they then probe the Moscow area and lured most of our troops there in order to be able to then move all his mobile forces into the South and do a big push there.

They almost made it trough to Leningrad, at least the first line of defense, which was the heaviest. But it seems now like their attacks has stalled. They were also dangerously close to Moscow, in my opinion. But Kalinin's great sacrifice, which the Red army and Stalin will remember until the end of times, has stalled them dead in their tracks, unable to take back the momentum, for now anyway.

It only leaves the South to be worry about. If the Germans capture the oil field, they could be back up and running again for 1943. Although I don't think they will be able to capture the South as massive reinforcement is coming and being cut off will be too hard for them. To boot, we still hold the rail lines that would provide the Germans supplies to drive to Baku. Although, the troops holding the rails are very weak, they are still alive.

I think the enemy never wanting to have a stable frontline, and instead concentrating his forces all in the spearhead has really allowed us some breathing room. The war has basically been about the Germans pushing and then letting themselves be surrounded and having their supplies hindered. The Germans thought that by massing all their powerful troops at the top and only leaving fire brigades in the back would be enough and I guess it would have had been enough had they pocketed a lot of my troops during Barbarossa but it is not the case and I do have lots of troops to play around with and to sacrifice.

Now as I say, we only need to defend the Oil Fields until winter arrives.
Long live the Red Army Comrades !

Fascinating stuff. I've never seen a German player maneuver like this, its almost like one huge Napoleonic battle. I eagerly await every new turn!

Axis Flanks in 1942, (at Rostov) defended by Romanians and Hungarians.
This looks familiar. 8-)
...nothing to worry about.

What an odd playstyle. I think you are close to completely collapsing the Axis.

I think since he couldnt encircle me in the traditional way, he's baiting me into making reckless attacks so he can encircle me. This has happened a couple time already and continues to happen ( youll see in the next few turns). He leaves mobile divisions behind spread out and once I take the bait, he swarms me. Im not strong enough to placate his fire brigades yet.. But 1943 is coming.

Sounds like you assume he uses the madman theory. Have you considered him just being a madman? :D
