Improved AI Mod?

Post by marnoerzob08 »

Hallo All.

I was wondering if anyone has looked into modding the AI within the Strategic Command games?
I'm aware that you can increase the difficulty of the AI, basically by letting it cheat. I

'm more interested in a challenge where the AI makes smarter decision, not just hitting the same nail with a bigger hammer.
Anything similar to that out there?

Most war games don't have what many nowadays would consider AI. They have scripts which are daunting to mod since without extensive testing you run the risk of breaking the aspects that work. It's not impossible, but it takes a lot of effort and time to do right. Since most wargame studios are small, they optimize for deterministic script-driven AIs that they can tweak, debug and patch at that scale. I'm sure there are incremental improvements all the time, but I doubt even the best coded scripts will ever match what a truly experienced human player can do.
