Campaign Series: Middle East I have. Also would like Vietnam game if currency didn't get wild after years.
May I ask what made you return to War in the East 2?
Addiction? I have never really left War in the East 2, I have been playing it since 2018 or so.

I have played like hell to Warplan / Warplan Pacific. I didn't have time to learn WITE2. But I have now and I am amazed at the level of details in this game. I made a mistake earlier. I went straight to the grand campaign and I was overwhelmed.

I didn't scratch the surface of it.

But, there are plenty of good tutorials I am reading. Now, I am more at the level of choosing which payload for the next air mission, selecting a good hex to perform air interdiction to slow down the enemy. Thinking of the good avenue of approach so that my logistics can follow.

It's a time investment but once you get through it, the game is incredibly rewarding. Best Eastern Front game for me.

Games 30 minutes and less:

PBA BOWLING: career mode is not an option unless you can get your average up 200(+), otherwise you will not be able to compete with the AI bowlers, i found out.
The type of bowling ball you choose determines the amount of spin or 'hook' you can get for that shot. (using ps controller) i started out just throwing straight balls (like in real life) with an average of maybe 100. eventually figured out how to get the hook/spin and my average is improving. The online mode/multiplayer works OK. WISHLIST: NEIGHBORHOOD LEAGUE BOWLING

PINOCHLE 4-handed: web-based and free, it took a long time for me to find. searched steam up and down but no luck. found it online. mp is against ai, not real people..

https://cardgames.io/pinochle/

CHESS ULTRA: on steam and definitely worth it esp. on sale. one bonus is that i can set the game graphics at 3840x2160 while the computer runs at 1920x1080.

-For non-steam or non-online play, check out Chessmaster. An excellent piece of software with tutorials.. available as abandonware (no longer supported).

CMFI (Combat Mission: Fortress Italy)
40+ hours and I am through Basic Training. Player assignment for Tutorial #3 is to take the fortified objective, hill 2014.

`

Units available: (3) infantry squads ; (1) HQ team ; (1) mg team w/ammo team ; (1) mortar team
assigned tactics: set up a base-of-fire with your mg and mortar teams overlooking the objective. Use suppression until you can get your troopers to the grove and then prepared for the final push.
The tutorial recommends sending the HQ with your infantry teams and let the mortar spot for itself (direct fire).
After a few playthroughs, I decided to have the HQ spot for the mortar team instead. This kept the mortar team safe from return fire and the HQ remaining unspotted.
On yet another playthrough, I decided to send the infantry teams along the road, past the buildings and then continue towards the objective. Using the wall as cover, they eventually came to a complete standstill nearing the objective. (casualties)
next: advanced training with the 'invasion at gela' tutorial.

Concept reminds me Hist War Les Grognard. Tactical battles were huge scale in that game. When I purchased the game developer return to me after weekend for install instructions. Was very amateur but old fashioned game with great spirit from 1 person.

YouTube has some interesting videos about LonaRPG, so I decided to try demo. Isometric action RPG, tile maps, 4-direction movement/attack. 2 handed polearms have longer reach, so that's nice. Do you know this anime/manga Goblin Slayer? Player character, Lona, would fit right in to the party of young adventurers in the first episode/chapter.

The videos I have seen show hunting of wild animals and preparing food of them. In one assignment Lona accompanies a blonde noblewoman killing the slavers to liberate slaves. But the freed slaves say they signed up to be slaves to make a living, and how are they supposed to get food now? Noblewoman berates them as ungrateful something... Is this some political commentary? If Lona survives long enough to have children, player can start the game with one of the children.

Can I say anything else about the game without getting perma-banned? Okay, it's not to the faint of heart. If you already have mental issues, this game won't help to alleviate them. And the player character don't start as The Pain Train
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

This was always my favourite board game. Bought Paul Koenigs update a couple of years back. Would still play it. But have a lot more success with opponents playing SC WatW.

Been playing several different games and not sticking with any of them for long. Most recent is SPWAW. Giving yet another try to Sickel Stroke 1940 campaign. Though the campaign description recommends two Panzer III platoons and a panzergrenadier company, I went with one Panzer III platoon, Panzer II platoon, motorized infantry co, light recon group, Panzerjaeger I section, 15 cm SPG platoon, and Sd.kfz. 250 for A0> command unit. Hopefully I'll have time in the weekend to get through the first scenario, and maybe 2nd too.

FAQ:
Are the roads in American Truck Simulator real?

AI Overview:
Yes, American Truck Simulator (ATS) uses real-world roads, including major interstates, state routes, and highways, designed to mirror the U.S. road system. While featuring realistic road layouts, the map is scaled down (typically 1:20 ratio), meaning it is not a 1:1 representation, and it omits smaller roads and some cities.
Key Details About Real Roads in ATS:
Realism: The game accurately captures the feel of various regions, focusing on major highways and interstate routes.
Scale and Scope: The map is scaled at roughly 1:20, compressing long, multi-hour drives into shorter, more manageable sessions.
Coverage: It predominantly covers the western and central U.S., adding more states over time.
Accuracy: While based on real locations, some sections are approximated due to the scale, and some roads are omitted.
The game serves as a simulator, allowing players to drive recognizable, real-world roads in states like California, Arizona, Texas, and more.

Im going through the greatest wargaming campaign in my entire life. One last time as axis through all the new and old games pre-ww2 and ww2 year by year. I started with some 1914 ww1 scenarios related to rommel but got so stuck to russian civil war that I decided to leave that and ww1 for future and start firmly from 1930s. Most of the early years I played winsp2 and some spwaw scenarios since they have it well covered.

After few real life months Im at 1935 playing darkest hour with three campaigns for Italy, Japan and Germany. Also playing winsp2 long campaign as japanese fighting in china. Also playing unity of command 2 scenario related to 1935 ethiopia-italy war.

Year 1936 is closing in and then things are going to get serious. I have 16 new games starting that year including six related to Spanish Civil War. Still its managable because I play only the year 1936 for each game so it feels like Im progressing all the time. And I dont get bored since I play many differet games at the same time.

I have never been able to keep this much focus on wargaming for months on so I guess going year by year was the final important step for me. Its like a history tour and Ive learned new things like wars in south america before ww2. Men of war assault squad 2 had a mod with many interesting scenarios for different wars that happened between ww1 and ww2.
